Summer has finally arrived in Copenhagen. At MPP we are looking forward to enjoying some relaxing vacation weeks after a very busy, but also very exciting spring semester. Concurrently with all our primary teaching and research activities we have been taking actively part in the ongoing strategy process at Copenhagen Business School. Nine strategy work groups have just handed in their recommendations to the CBS Leadership Team and Board and it is expected that a new CBS strategy will be formally accepted at a board meeting in late August. What this new strategic direction means for MPP remains to be seen, but rest assure that we are so ready to take on the new challenges. Before leaving for the summer break, one feels the urge to reflect on the past, present and future, so let’s summarize some of this year’s highlights so far: • Visits and presentations by many international guest researchers: Matt Statler, New York University, Mitchell Dean, Macquarie University, Janet Borgerson, Exeter University, Hans Ruin, Södertörn Högskola, Geoffrey Jones, Harvard Business School, Andreas PhilippopoulosMihalopoulos, University of Westminster, Bengt Kristensson Uggla, Åbo Akadeiversity, Daniel Birnbaum, Städelschule Frankfurt, Simonetta Carbonaro, Borås University, Francois Dosse, Paris. • 5 PhD degrees have been awarded to mpp-staff: Anders Raastrup Kristensen, Rex Degnegaard, Tommy MoesbyJensen, Cecilie Moesby-Johansen, Susanne Ekman • Awards: Prestigious research grants have been given to Shannon O’Donnell, Helene Ratner, Ole Fogh Kirkeby, Per H. Hansen • We enjoyed hosting the annual meeting with the Masters of Philosophy and Business Administration alumni network (aka FLØK) in April • Last but not least I am so proud of how frequently mpp faculty have been featured in tv, newspapers, and other important media like Weekendavisen.
Spring has indeed been an exciting time, but we’re pretty sure that the Fall semester will be even more exciting: • We are planning a new seminar series: “Bridging Humanities and Management” where some of the department’s most distinguished professors will give their take on the theme.

Austin, and I will give it a shot as well, distinguished or not. Visiting researchers this fall include Roberto Verganti, Antonio Strati, Simon Critchley, Chris Steyaert, Romain Laufer and Teresa da Silva Lopes. So check our website for announcements of lectures with these renowned scholars. Moreover in the fall we are planning a joint seminar series with The Danish Design School under the title: “Aesthetics and Entrepreneurship” Next issue of mpp news is expected to be out early September – also marking mpp’s 15 year birthday. In this number we will launch a new research initiative, which hopefully will lead way to many new adventures with both old and new friends of mpp.
If you by any chance suddenly find yourself bored by the sun or feel the need to stimulate your holiday-mind, click into DR’s “Danskernes Akademi’”and follow Camilla Sløk on the topic of ‘School Leadership’, Ole Fogh Kirkeby on ‘Public Leaders’ , Niels Thyge Thygesen on ‘Leadership based on trust’ , Helle Hedegaard Hein on ‘Primadonna Management’, and Dorthe Pedersen on ‘Public Management’– all the lectures are in Danish, so for non-Danish speaking audience (re)visit our mpp Youtube channel for the spring seminar series. Have a great summer and maybe see you at the Academy of Management Meeting in Montreal in August.
