Triton Stone Group came to be in August 2006 because of a hurricane and an unexpected change in a career path. Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Triton Stone Group President Katie Jensen found out that there are the plans we make for ourselves, but they do not always coincide with those that life has for us.
In August 2005, after graduating from UNC, Katie was excited to begin a career for the worldwide shipping company Maersk. While training in Denmark, she kept a close eye on the news as Hurricane Katrina had made its way into the Gulf, and as the days passed, the news from home grew more destructive. As much as she wanted to start her career with Maersk, she wanted to help in the recovery of her home even more and ultimately returned to New Orleans. Upon her return home, Katie and her family began their search to find a way to help rebuild the devastated New Orleans area and establish a family business. Triton Stone Group would come to be the perfect fit, as it checked all the boxes for a businessminded family who wanted to give back to their community.
Since its onset, Triton Stone Group has been instrumental in assisting with the Katrina recovery effort. Still, it continues to serve the New Orleans area by providing stone, quartz, sinks, tools, and tile. Working with Triton Stone is far more than just making a purchase. The Triton Stone family goes above and beyond to ensure their clients have proper knowledge when choosing what will go in their homes. As Triton Stone Vice President Rachel Jones explains, “There can be a lot of confusion around quartz vs. natural stone and the proper locations for the application of certain materials. Renovating or building is a big investment, and we want all our clients to be happy with their selections for years to come.” When it comes to such a substantial investment, knowledge is key. Triton Stone Group offers its expertise and an educational resource on its website, which is an excellent tool for anyone searching for the right fit for their needs. feeling, “Just knowing all of the people’s lives that we are impacting, both internally with our employees and externally with our customers...that’s what gets me up every morning.” Triton Stone Group cares about their people: employees are part of the family. Katie stresses that it is this that sets Triton Stone apart from others. “We have an amazing team of leaders who are passionate about their jobs and are doing everything they can to make sure that every one of our clients has an exceptional experience.”
Triton Stone Group evolved from a disaster that became an opportunity for an enterprising family who cared about rebuilding their home. What it has become is a family-run, women-owned company dedicated to serving its clients with knowledge, resources, and quality. Based in New Orleans, there are now twenty-eight locations across the Midwest and Southeast. When understanding the evolution of this local company, it is evident that “Rise together. Rock Forever.” is more than just a clever motto for Triton Stone Group.
