The Blue Crab Restaurant and Oyster Bar
MANY OF US who grew up in the New Orleans area have fond memories of afternoons spent at the Lakefront dining on seafood with our family and friends. After Hurricane Katrina, all of the West End restaurants were lost.
When it opened ten years ago, it was the goal of The Blue Crab Restaurant and Oyster Bar to capture that atmosphere again. With spectacular views of Lake Pontchartrain and the marina, guests can enjoy the sunset, and the little ones can wave to the boats as they pass by.
The Blue Crab proudly serves only the finest, Louisiana seafood with BBQ Shrimp and Grits featured as a New Orleans classic. The freshest, local Gulf Shrimp are coated in the house blend of creole seasoning, pan sautéed in a spicy rosemary and garlic butter sauce, and then laid on a bed of creamy, stone ground, cheese grits. The dish is garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and a savory, cheddar cheese biscuit.
According to owner Nick Asprodites, other customer favorites include chargrilled oysters, chargrilled crabs, blue crab dip, and, of course, boiled seafood. The regular menu also features selections for Eat Fit NOLA and gluten-free choices. The catering menu is extensive and can accommodate parties of various sizes.
The Blue Crab has Happy Hour on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:30 in the evenings. Happy Hour Specials include $1.25 Chargrilled Oysters, .90 cent raw oysters, and $5 select appetizers. In addition, $3 house wines, half off wells and calls, and $1 off Draft beer discounts round out the drink specials for Happy Hour.
Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the breeze and the seafood at The Blue Crab Restaurant and Oyster Bar, 7900 Lakeshore Dr, New Orleans. 504284-2898. thebluecrabnola.com
