226 Pacific Street

226 Pacific Street A red brick rowhouse built in the 1880s with a two story, fifty-six foot extension added during the 1920s. The extension was a electric lamp workshop. Today this single family home has been revisioned to take the quaintness of the front rowhouse and combine it seamlessly with the loft of the former lamp workshop.

As you enter the parlor level, the living room is completely open the entire width of the house. There is a gas fireplace. The stairs to the left lead up to three of the bedrooms, while the long stairs connect the living room to the kitchen and dining room.

The long set of stairs connect the living room while creating seating. Visually the two spaces are connected.

A large, gourmet kitchen opening to dining room. Wolf range, Subzero refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, seating at island, veneto marble and pietro cardoza stone countertops, custom designed lights, interconnecting stair to roof terrace, flooded with natural light.

Reclaimed wood shelves from existing structure, Wolf microwave drawer, wine refrigerator with bar area and storage, European wide white oak flooring with radiant heating throughout, handless custom cabinets.

The double height space in the rear of the building connects the recreational space to the dining room. The space is flooded with natural light with seven operable skylights and numerous windows.

The stair continues up to the roof terrace connecting these two rear levels creating a large entertainment space. The lower level has a wet bar with a wine refrigerator. This space could be used for movie area, playroom or gameroom.

The roof terrace is paved with roof pavers that can be configured to create a beautiful outdoor space. The exterior of the bedrooms has been completely redone with siding along with a new roof, and copper gutters, and leaders.

The privacy of the roof terrace is very unique as this property has this terrace situated between the stair bulkhead and the front 1880s building. The neighboring buildings do not have views onto the roof terrace. There is a gas barbeque that has its own dedicated gas line.

The master bedroom is located in the peak of the roof of the 1880s building. There are two closets with custom inserts, along with a gas fireplace, skylight and two additional windows facing the roof terrace. There is a master bathroom adjoining.

The master bathroom has a deep walk in shower with a large rain shower and hand held shower from England. The walls are covered in matte carrera marble. There are marble mosaics on the shower floor, while the bathroom flooring is herringbone carrera marble. There is a large vanity with double sinks and peitra cardoza countertop. Custom made lights mimic the rain showerhead.

The powder room on the parlor level (first floor) has a matte veneto marble countertop, with basaltina wall and floor tiles. The fun accent wallpaper gives a splash of color and excitement.

Both the second floor bathroom and the basement bathroom have herringbone marble tiles on the floor along with large matte carrera tiles on the wall. Custom glass splashguards along with tub and shower fixtures from England.

The cellar has been completely renovated and reenvisioned. Large porcelain tiles have been laid throughout the space. Existing wood joists have been exposed, closing area only where new piping and ductwork have been placed. The cellar has room for a lot of storage, along with wine storage, and a gym/movie room.

The rear of the cellar has been opened up to create a gym or movie room. There are two windows and a door that leads to a small outdoor area. There are pavers and plants.

The front of the house has been completely reworked and brought back to its original state. The base, the stoop and all the window sills and headers have been redone. New front doors, railings and the cornice has been reworked adding a new copper gutter. Planters hide garbage and recycling cans.

The door under the stoop had to be completely rebuilt and now there is a direct connection to the basement level creating a direct access to a large vestibule that can accommodate strollers, scooters, bikes, and all the shoes and jackets that are used throughout the seasons.
