County Partners provide Sanitizer to Restaurants
In 2020, the Jackson County Office of Economic Development, working in conjunction with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce, partnered to provide and distribute complimentary half-gallon pump containers of hand sanitizer to small businesses that had been impacted by Covid-19. Additionally, the Highlands Cashiers Health Foundation showed incredible generosity in providing steel foot-pedal sanitizing stations to all independent restaurants in Jackson County.

Chamber, brewery debut festive Colla-BEER-ation On Saturday, August 21, 2021 the Jackson
County Chamber of Commerce will host the fourth annual Hook, Line and Drinker Festival from 3-7 p.m. at the Bridge Park in Sylva, N.C. The event is a celebration of Jackson County being the home of the WNC Fly Fishing Trail and the N.C. Trout Capital. There will be fly fishing guides and lots of outdoor adventure vendors, along with food trucks and children’s activities. The popular Carolina Soul Band will perform classic soul/R&B/Beach music from 3-7 p.m. The festival also welcomes a hearty mix of craft breweries from throughout the WNC region. This year, local Sylva craft brewery Innovation Brewing will debut a special Hook, Line and Drinker Festival beer, with a portion of the proceeds going to help the chamber continue producing the event in the future. Weekend Brunch Bunch
The Jackson County TDA in partnership with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Sylva Association launched a campaign in 2020 to drive business to Jackson County for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The campaign was funded by CARES act funding received by the JCTDA and aims to drive awareness of safe dining, local food options, and increased visitor awareness of all the local dining options available. A total of 13 brunch sandwich board style signs were purchased and distributed.

W
hen the Covid 19 pandemic hit in 2020, it forced our local restaurants to rethink how to not only survive as a business, but how to safely serve its customers and protect their staff members as well. One obvious solution was to promote all of the wonderful places in our area to dine outdoors. At the request of a Town of Sylva Board Member, the Main Street Sylva Association took an idea Bernadette Peters created at City Lights Cafe and revamped the look for mass distribution in Jackson County. As you can see from the flyer at right, we have lots of places to enjoy a take out meal in downtown Sylva alone. Not to mention, our entire county is a vast & beautiful region with nature’s abundance painting a memorable backdrop for any occasion.
