Becoming a parent for the first time can be an exhilarating experience. It can also be overwhelming, which is why it is often helpful to have other new parents with whom to celebrate and ─ occasionally ─ commiserate. The JCCGW’s Bender-Dosik Parenting Center is proud to serve as a catalyst for so many young families in our community to form lifelong connections.
The four moms had other friends in the area who were also first-time moms, and the group expanded to become a havurah (fellowship). It has grown to include nine families who get together at least once a month. In the fall, they have birthday parties for their children almost every weekend. Our New Normal Message from Michael
Last month I was glued to the TV and internet in horror as the terrorist attacks in France unfolded. Then we heard about the break-up of a terror cell in Belgium. And more recently, another horrible attack occurred in Israel, this time a terrorist on a Tel Aviv bus stabbed 13, leaving four critically injured. Whether the motivation is anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism, antiWestern or sociopathic, it seems that we can barely get through a week without witnessing another tragedy somewhere in the world.
