Interior Style Goes Outside
2
As practical as they are pretty, these affordable finds add up to a porch with living room appeal.
Heaven knows we don’t have a problem with the classic wooden rocking chair. But it’s far from the only option available these days. Thanks to a host of new weather-resistant furnishings, fabrics—even floor lamps—outdoor rooms can easily rival their interior counterparts, often for a fraction of the cost. The proof’s on this porch. Dramatic drapes provide shade, privacy, and a welcome dose of pattern. A plastic rug looks anything but. And with a comfy daybed that serves as both a sofa and a spot for sleeping al fresco, you may never want to spend a summer afternoon inside again.
1. This “table” turns tradition on its head. Who would’ve thought a galvanized planter—flipped upside down—could become the perfect perch for drinks? ($149; potterybarn.com) 2. Branch out from the
typical hanging lantern. This faux bois floor lamp feels indoor-worthy, yet also slyly references the great outdoors. ($151 with shade; Lighting Universe, 425-814-2515)
