WORLD BANK DINING FACILITY 1850 Eye Street, NW Washington, D.C.
Implementing the schemes of the project design team, I developed all contract documentation for the highly-detailed private executive dining rooms and the employee cafeteria of this 1980 ancillary building to the World Bank headquarters complex. Additionally, I refined the built-in furniture layouts for these spaces. Interspace Incorporated

USSR EMBASSY
U.S.S.R. EMBASSY RECEPTION HALL BUILDING INTERIORS Washington, D. C.
Working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on behalf of the USSR, John Carl Warnecke & Associates was contracted, in 1980, to complete all contract documentation and perform all construction administration duties for this new $100 million embassy complex in Washington, D.C. As a result of prior unfortunate experiences when host country architectural firms were permitted to design their embassies, the USSR minimized JCWA's design role to the point where JCWA became merely a respondant to and implementer of architectural and interior design schemes generated by a team of Soviet architects. As head of the production team for the $12 million Reception Hall Building interiors subcontract, I interpreted the freehand sketches of the Soviet architects -- adapting them to modern construction methods and materials and developing a fullydetailed set of 22 construction drawings for the 13 major rooms. A majority of the design details were developed as large-scale freehand sketches and assigned to my support staff of six others to draw. On this project, I also researched and developed all detailing for the design of Class IV (multiple-fire NATO round) bulletresistant glazing for the security stations and the raised-panel, 11-foot high, wood-clad main entrance doors of the Reception Hall Building.

EDAVILLE RAILROAD
South Carver, Massachusetts
EDAVILLE RAILROAD
South Carver, Massachusetts 2-foot narrow-gauge railroad, first developed in 1945 with remnants of five narrow-gauge railroads dating back to 1877. Sited on over 500 acres of a working cranberry plantation, the rail line traverses 2.5 miles on tracks through cranberry bogs and near the Atwood Reservoir. Edaville has 3-season operation with restored vintage passenger cars powered by vintage steam and diesel locomotives. There are extravagant Fourth of July and Christmas Light festivals, along with several “themed” weekend events. Opening June 2015 Edaville will have the world's largest official ThomsLand themed park, plus a Main Street-styled entry concours, an emulated Dickens Village, and several major new rides. Significant on-site “living” museum of transportation, working machine, car shops, roundhouse, and turntable.

BASS RIVER MARINA
BASS RIVER MARINA West Dennis, Massachusetts Located in an area of water-oriented commercial and residential land uses, the Bass River Marina is situated on the picturesesque Horsefoot Cove of the Bass River Tidal Basin, roughly 2 miles inland from the Atlantic seacoast. The existing marina was comprised of 3 buildings -- the showroom and service building along Route 28, and the boat storage building and the clubhouse on Horsefoot Cove. The focus of the project was to replan the entire 4 acre development to double the size of and relocate all boat-related services and facilities to the rear of the property, along Horsefoot Cove. The Route 28 side of the property was to be redeveloped as a retail/office building. Working with Coastal Zone Management, the Department of Environmental Quality Engineering, the Army Corps of Engineers, and local conservation/building code authorities, the Master Plan was designed to permit expansion of the marina while protecting the fragile bordering wetlands resource areas. Included in this expansion was dredging of the channel and reconstruction of the docks to provide 240 wet slips -- making this marina the second largest in the south Cape Cod region. The Showroom/Service building is supported entirely on pressure-treated wood pilings -- driven 25 feet into the ground to circumvent unstable layers of peat. This building houses a 5,400 square-foot showroom with an overlooking 1,200 square-foot mezzanine for administrative offices. The service facility houses a 1,000 square-foot ship's store, and a 7,000 square-foot service facility with a 2,000 square-foot mezzanine for the machine shop and parts storage. Both the showroom and the service facility are capable of handling 50-foot power yachts -- the largest sold and serviced by the marina. The contemporary facade features diagonal rustic cedar siding and expansive, twostory high windows encircling the showroom (originally designed to be shaded by projecting lovered trelliswork). The Convenience Store/Bath House is actually two, closelyspaced buildings -- again supported entirely on wood pilings. The store provides roughly 1,000 square-feet of ground-level retail space opening onto a cedar deck along the water's edge. It also includes a 700 square-foot manager's apartment on the second floor. The Bath House provides toilet and bathing facilities for the boaters. Both structures are designed in an updated traditional Cape Cod motif, patterned after Coast Guard facilities found along the seacoast of Maine. The retail/office building along route 28 provides 5,100 squarefeet of first floor retail space and 4,800 square-feet of second floor professional office space with dramatic views of the marina facility below and the tidal basin beyond. A full basement provides partitioned storage for the tenants. The building is designed in a stylized Cape Cod genre with cedar siding, generous multi-paned windows and dormered multi-level, gabeled roofs.
