Monarch Migration Workshop

(Ages 8 & Older; children must be accompanied by Parent/ Guardian or one adult chaperone per group of 5)

Celebrate the Monarch butterfly’s amazing annual migration. Join us in capturing, tagging, and releasing them to continue their journey to Mexico. Learn about these amazing insects and other native butterflies. Wear long pants to protect your legs as you run through the prairie and closed toed shoes to protect your feet. Due to a limited amount of insect nets, you are welcome to bring your own. For reservations and more information call (913) 826-2800. Advance

Registration Required. Registration closes on Sept. 9th. Participants will receive 2 tags to use on site or take home.

Full Moon Hike

(Ages 8 & Older)

By the light of the blue moon, join us for a quiet hike to connect with nature and the night sounds. Let your eyes adjust to the moonlight and experience the park after dark. Enjoy the shadows, listen for owls, and finish with a hot drink. The full moon hike will happen even on overcast nights. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.

Youth Winter Break Camp

Winter Break Adventure Camp

(Ages 6-12)

Cozy up at the nature center for winter break! We will do activities and experiments inside and out! Dress for the weather and learn about survival and animal adaptations. For the convenience of working parents, supervision will be provided from 7:30am-5:30pm. Scheduled activities are from 9am-4pm. Children will need a lunch and water bottle each day. Snacks served daily. A camper data sheet will be required for attendees and will be emailed prior to the start date of camp. Camp fees are nonrefundable.
