The Alex George Award for Excellence was established in 1987 to honor one woman and one man from among those involved each year in the Kansas City Corporate Challenge. The award is named for the late Alex George, founder of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge. It represents the values he demonstrated in his various sports activities, namely a competitive spirit, a selfless dedication to amateur athletics, lifetime physical fitness and good sportsmanship. Below are excerpts from the winning recipients’ nomination letters.

Jeff Hall

Ferrellgas As his team’s Company Coordinator since their inaugural year in 2007, Jeff understood that recruiting employees to participate in as many events as possible would only be successful if he demonstrated a willingness to do so as well. Luckily, he is a gifted athlete who has been blessed with several skills. Jeff has demonstrated his enthusiasm for the unique camaraderie that only sports can offer by organizing running, cycling, and rock wall climbing groups for employees. In 2021, he even organized a running event with employees from his opposing teams. The one thing that easily trumped winning as many KCCC events as possible was the need to always demonstrate sportsmanship on the playing field. That is something he not only demanded of himself, but it’s also something he helped ensure happened at every event his team was present.

Molly Postlewait

Johnson County Park and Recreation District

Molly is full of energy, passion, and positivity and it radiates in all that she does. Nationally recognized for her work as a Senior Park Naturalist, her schedule didn’t allow her participation in Kansas City Corporate Challenge until 2019 but that’s all it took for her to be hooked! When Molly retired from Johnson County Park and Recreation District in the spring 2021, she was still determined to participate with her team in the Games, and did she ever participate! She brought home a gold medal in the 100M track event, a silver in the 400M track event, and a bronze at the bike race. Her biggest contribution, however, was her contagious enthusiasm to enjoy every moment with her team.
