GENERAL INFORMATION
What Is a Warranty?
A warranty is a type of guarantee that a manufacturer or supplier makes regarding the condition of the products they provide. It also refers to the terms and conditions in which repairs or exchanges will be made should the product not perform or function as originally described or intended when you purchased it.
How a Warranty Works
A Warranty usually has exceptions, limits or conditions, in terms of which the manufacturer or supplier are obligated to. The warranty is limited to the period specified by the manufacturer from the date of purchase. In the first 6 months after delivery of the products, the supplier or manufacturer may refund, replace or repair a defective product at the customer’s discretion should the products not meet the required standards, resulting in supplier or manufacturer liability. A warranty does not cover customer abuse or customer negligence.
Extended Warranty
An extended warranty is an optional warranty which is added to the purchase price of the specific product and covers any supplier or manufacturer defects after the supplier or manufacturer warranty has expired. The retailer, not the manufacturer, is responsible for executing the extended warranty on behalf of the customer when this comes into effect.
Repairs
If your product is damaged while under Warranty, the product will be professionally assessed or repaired at our certified service providers. Depending on your location, this repair can take up to 21 working days to complete.
Should the product be defective and cannot be repaired (not financially viable to repair), the item will be replaced free of charge with a model of similar specifications.
THE BENEFITS
Do I really need an ‘extended warranty’?
Buying an extended warranty for your electronic purchase is always beneficial, especially if you are looking at keeping your valued purchase as long as possible.
An extended warranty is a service agreement that allows you to increase or extend the period of your warranty. For example, your purchase has the minimum of a 12-month warranty but the extended warranty allows you to be covered for an additional 4 years, depending on the extended warranty length/period you take. You can extend from 12 months up to 5 years.
The ‘standard manufacturer/supplier warranty period’ will differ from brand to brand, manufacturer to manufacturer. You have a choice to lengthen that warranty by taking an extended warranty. Check with our sales consultants and get the applicable manufacturer’s warranty allowing you to then make that informed choice.
The manufacturer’s warranty starts on the day you receive your purchased products/ goods. The extended warranty starts one (1) calendar day after the manufacturer’s warranty expires, thus extending the warranty based on your purchase as per above months/year.
Summary on the Benefits of an Extended Warranty
No Repair or Service costs beyond the manufacturer’s warranty period is offered by the manufacturer.
All labour and repair parts costs are covered for the full duration of the warranty provided that the product is not deemed damaged due to customer negligence or customer abuse.
It is important to read the ‘exclusions’.
PURCHASE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS
1. You purchase your extended warranty at the point of your product purchase by any means of payment. Alternatively, you have 30 days from the original purchase date/ receipt of the item to purchase an extended warranty.
2. You can purchase your products together with your extended warranty on finance (credit) or Lay-By (the warranty value will be equally divided over the repayment period and processed at point of purchase – final payment).
3. In cases of a warranty claim, the original invoice/till slip must be returned to the store so that the receipt number can be used as a reference number on your extended warranty purchase and to allow the store to know what products are to be covered.
4. You will then be required to pay the difference applicable to the extended warranty only. Your product’s extended warranty will commence once the manufacturer’s warranty expires.
5. It is important to keep both till slips, as both will be required should you wish to return your product at any point during the warranty period.
