Use a Template For Your Business Website
Another way that you can customize your template is by editing the blog's template file. You can access the template file by going to Layout -> Edit HTML. Blogger would probably be more accurate naming the link "Edit XML", since that's what you're actually editing. What you'll find in the template file are some variable definitions, some CSS style definitions, and finally the body of the blog page, which contains a bunch of XML tags that look something like this: In order to effectively edit your template beyond simply changing fonts and colors in the variable definition section, you'll need to know (or be willing to learn) some things about CSS and the Blogger XML schema. It will likely take some studying of the existing XML setup and some experimenting to make the improvements you're looking for. As you make changes, you might want to keep a backup copy of your last working template so you don't have to go back to work from the original template file if you mess something up. Some are free HTML templates, others are CMS templates for WordPress and Joomla (to name a few). Sure, they change them according to their clients' instructions - but it's true - if you hire a website designer/developer, chances are your website will be based off a template (unless the project is specified as a custom job and/or it's a very large project). It is not necessary to have a lot f software to use design templates. You will need a text editor to modify the template. Anything from Notepad found on Windows computers to Adobe Dreamweaver will work. Notepad is very simple and offers no help in understanding design. Dreamweaver is a top shelf WYSIWYG editor. Dreamweaver will aid in modifying the template with very little skill required. It is very expensive, however. You may want an image program to edit images. You will need an FTP program to upload the finished pages and images to your server. That is about all you will need. Document templates, however, greatly simplify the task by providing you with the framework for the documents you need. By using document templates, you'll be able to easily personalize a standardized document. For instance, you'll be able to input the names of the parties involved, addresses, specific terms of the agreement and other relevant data. The great thing is that document templates actually simplify the process of generating business documents.
