Welcome to the 2017 CIBGNY Annual Dinner Dance. This annual dinner has become the social event of the New York insurance calendar, a time to salute the contributions of CIBGNY to the insurance community and to network with the carriers, brokers and vendors that make this such a great industry. Tonight we celebrate the Association’s 40th Annual Dinner Dance. And once again I am proud to serve as your Master of Ceremonies and Event Chair. CIBGNY remains vibrant and our base of supporters and sponsors continues to grow. I would like to personally thank all of our sponsors & advertisers since it is them who make it possible for CIBGNY to further our role as Ombudsmen to the Insurance Brokers of New York. Our honoree this evening is the Kingstone Insurance Company. Kingstone Insurance Company continues a long tradition of providing the New York insurance buyer the cost effective products they need and they remain a vital supporter of the Broker/Agent distribution system. We will also present the Demetriou Scholarship Award tonight that will recognize the young people who have the potential of being the future leaders of CIBGNY and the industry. A Message from the President I wish to congratulate Barry Goldstein and Kingstone Insurance Co. as our honoree tonight and to thank you for your commitment to the broker/agent distribution system. This has been my first year serving as President of CIBGNY and I would like to reflect on an interesting year. My first order as President was to find a replacement for our association manager, which was no easy task. I was fortunate enough to find Jeanne Abatelli, who stepped right in and took command of her responsibilities. Thank you Jeanne for making the transition as easy as possible for me. Tom Faist, our lobbyist, has kept our association issues in front of our legislators. This year we have moved forward on the Price Optimization Bill, We had our Memorandum in Support with other associations pass the Assembly and Senate for the Continuing Education bill. We continue to work alongside with other associations toward the Repeal of the 30 Day Cancellation Rule at the State Insurance Fund, and to permit the SIF to pay commissions to licensed insurance brokers. In addition we have worked toward the retroactive cancellation of automobile insurance policies within the first 60 days for certain dishonored premium payments. Thank you,Tom, for your all your efforts on behalf of CIB in Albany. At the New York Auto Insurance Plan, CIB continues to be a voice and presence of the brokerage community. Our businesses face new regulations from Albany, such as the new Cyber liability laws and Paid Family Leave Act which make operating our businesses more burdensome. We continue to keep these issues in front of our members through our scheduled events and social media format. I would also like to thank our Executive Board as well as the Officers and Directors of CIB for having the faith and confidence in asking me to serve as their President. Leading an association did not come easy for me, but having the support of every member of the board helped me complete my first year. Special thanks to Shelly Kozel for his guidance, Michael Demetriou for the success of our golf outing, Al Caputo who chaired the Dinner Dance committee, Rino Pietanza for forming our Social Media site, and Marty Koles in serving as our treasurer. It is wonderful working with such dedicated, caring, and giving individuals. All I had to do was ask for help, and there was always someone there to offer their support. That's what makes belonging to this association so worthwhile. We give unselfishly of our time and energy to make this association work for the betterment of our clients and our brokerage community. I would like to offer my special thanks this evening to our Gold Ribbon Sponsors and many advertisers because without your support and participation we could not hold such a great events each year. And to our long standing CIB members and new members who have joined our association over the past year, we look forward to our continued growth.
