Cleaning Laptop Screens - Bringing Back the Shine Unlike a Television Screen which sits in one place, relatively undisturbed, laptop screens are constantly on the move: exposed to dirt, grime, dust and worst of all, finger prints. Luckily cleaning your computer screen is not very hard to do and can even be accomplished with household products!
The first step in cleaning laptop screen is to find a cleaning solution to use. Many commercial cleaning products can be purchased at regular department stores and electronic stores. These types of cleaning products may be labeled as television cleaners, LCD cleaners, computer cleaning wipes, etc. There is no need to buy these products, most of them are the same as the same solution you can make at home for cleaning laptop screen. The best thing to use when cleaning computer screen is plain distilled water. If more serious cleaning is needed, plain distilled water mixed with vinegar (50/50) can be used. It is not recommended to use any cleaner with strong solvents for cleaning LCD screens, strong solvents include: alcohol and ammonia. Once the proper cleaning solution has been determined or mixed, the next stop is to place the solution is a spray bottle. A spray bottle with a fine mist is the best choice. Do not spray the bottle directly onto the screen, this could cause damage to the laptop. Instead, spray the mist onto cotton cloth. A very fine cotton cloth should be used, nothing with a rough service such as a towel should be used. Be sure not to overly moisten the cloth, ideally it
should be moist not wet to prevent excess cleaning solution from dripping off the cloth and possibly causing harm to the laptop. Using the large, soft cotton cloth, wipe in a circular motion. A circular motion should be used at a relatively fast pace, apply light pressure without applying too much force. Remember not to press your fingertips deeply into the cloth as this can cause pressure onto the LCD Matrix and cause severe and permanent damage to your laptop LCD screen. Once the screen is no longer moist, you should have a beautiful, shiny and hopefully streak-free laptop screen!
