Artist Statement I am a graphic designer and digital illustrator. I excel in creating bold colorful vector designs, and enjoy creative problem solving. I am a hard working team player who is easy to work with. I specialize in creating logo, print, and poster designs that reach a wide audience. The first step of my design process is to sketch a rough idea of what my final designs will look like. Then I scan the sketch and bring it into the program Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. In Illustrator I use the pen tool to create stylized eye catching designs. When I use photoshop, the sketch acts as a layout to my final design. Then I do all the photography work myself, and bring it into Photoshop. The images I create, look like they were pulled straight out of my imagination. I draw inspiration from pop culture and current trends in the design world. My designs and skill set are an accumulation of the effort, passion, and dedication I’ve put into learning my craft. Art has always been a part of my life. I have been drawing and doodling since I first picked up a pencil, and I’ve had a passion to create for as long as I could remember. Drawing was how I communicated the way I felt about the world around me. I discovered graphic design in high school, and I grew to appreciate how it allowed me to express my creative ideas with more ease and rapidity than traditional media. At Sierra College I learned to hone my skills in digital illustration and graphic design. I have gained many technical skills from Sierra College, but I believe I am never done learning and that there is always room for growth. I want to continue my artistic journey by studying at a school specializing in art and design.

Photoshop
The purpose of this project was to pay homage to the famous photoshop artist, Alberto Seveso. This is a combination of both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The solid abstract shapes were made in illustrator and the rest was done with photoshop. By using different brushes and layers I was able to immitate Seveso’s signature style. Created in 2015.

The design problem was to create an image inspired by a Grimm Fairytale. The Grimm Fairytale I drew inspiration from was “The Tailor in heaven.” I chose to replicate what I believed to be the most important part of the story, when the tailor sits on God’s throne and gains the ability to peer down onto Earth. I used a Dslr camera to shoot the model, background, and chair. Then in photoshop I brought all the photographs together. With the brush tool I created the clouds. To add the final details of gold light shining on the clouds, I used the brush tool at a lower opacity. In order to make the chair look like God’s throne, I used the the hue and saturations option and turned the the chair gold. By using the dodge tool, I was able to add highlights and make the chair look like it was actually a gold throne. This piece was created in 2015.
