Maheshwer , Madhyapradesh

The studio is segregated into two parts, one is documentation and another part is the intervention. studio was intended to work as a bridge between spaces to places. documentation plays an important role to analyse the neighbourhood and characteristics of the place. The studio developed to understand the relationship between people and places. Maheshwer: The major occupation of the people in Maheshwar is handloom weaving, which leads them to export and work for fortune brands. Heavy stone walls, hill forts and gates makes this city’s dynamic.

Urban sprawl in Udaipure , Rajasthan

By analysing the Udaipur data related to crime and violence, The “HOME’’ came into the thought process, a place which is talk about the sense of freedom. Where the opportunity starts to breathe to sustain, individually. Mainly this ideology of home is focusing on the motto of providing shelter for women who suffer and left out by the people. Create the essence of having a community and enhance the opportunity for them by providing a training centre for developing skills and for generating income. A place where they can grow.

HOTELS

Site Consideration : The core consideration is to achieving the response through the edge conditions. On the east side of the site is the water edge, on the west side of the site is the built edge. Having these two different aspects on each side gives the way to achieving the connection between the people and the users/ the build form vs the surrounds.

So, having this institute to be a part of a residence where it can be use as a platform for the contextual growth.

Renewable and Non-Renewable Resources. India - Udaipur, Rajasthan

As per the site analysis of Udaipur, we analyse that occupation/religion were main reason to forming communities. By taking the step further, we choose to develop residence according to occupation. Community according to occupation like local craftsmen and artisans of Udaipur – miniature painters, lather workers, marble workers, folk dancers and musicians, also introducing workspace according to communities. Allotment of commercial spaces, for promoting local hand crafts and attracting tourism.

As per the design proposal, involving the recreational spaces and communal spaces make a better environment for people to stay around. So choosing to grow something which are not limited only till the people but make a connection without having any barrier, between people and place. According to our understanding about making three zones – public, semi privet and privet spaces and their spill overs. To not to treat it as a different purpose, but to make it as whole.

Rejuvenate the Pitamber lake

Design Thesis

04

Patan, Gujarat

22

Architecture has been connected with what is ‘built’ but the city always has an equal measure of what is call as unbuilt. “The relation between built and unbuilt is on the edge of where public open spaces stands”. This study aims to understand the sensitive concept of creating a public environment as a lakefront development, which affects not only to people’s life but the city’s identity as an image of the city. The thesis reflects on the co-relation between context and the cultural environment of the city. Major concern of this study is to fill the gap and develope a relation between built and unbuilt. As the study limits with the perimeter of an architectural approach rather than focusing on to any kind of an urban approach. The concept that can fill the gap and built a bridge between city and people.

Aim and objectives: The primary concern of the study is to understand and rejuvenate the relationship between people and water body in Patan city, which has historic relationship with water bodies. •

To understand topography, and water conditions of a particular context. To analyze the existing conditions around water body and derive interventions to connect people and place. To develop lake front incorporating existing flooding issues, and create recreational and institutional spaces around it.

• •

Scope and Limitations: The design interventions and the type of study can be used as an example to derive issues at any other context.

S Accessibility & Connectivity

The analysis of the site is done based on the surrounding elements, location, topography and the basic existing context. Sensitive parameters were taken up through this analysis to respond the site with better accessibility and developing an un-built space with a friendly environment. This gave up a sensitive architectural intervention, celebrating the ideology and importance of water body with recreational intervention for the people.

Research component : GAP Analysis Concentrating at the lake edge development, community space is the core part to intervene and create a public environment. Focusing on the development area, the question leads to the least things which needs to be done for a city like, Patan. The gap between people and the city, the gap of leftover spaces, the gap between the kind of problem and provided solution, the gap of missing the gesture of the city, and the locality. To fill the gap between people and place, it is necessary to focus on people’s routine and daily activities. The gap has to be filled by the component of activities.
