For the Application to Master of Architecture (MArch) The University of Manchester
{PROLOGUE} [Structure - City]Although I studied civil engineering at the beginning of university, to pursue my hobbies and ideals, I chose to transfer my major to architecture a year later. However, after studying civil engineering, I began to think more deeply about the combination of architectural design and structure, thinking about whether it can perfectly balance structure and shape, to give the best feedback to people and the environment. Just as my idol, Santiago Calatrava, who has the dual identities of architect and engineer, said: Light and shadow and flying components can create a transparent building. I also have my views on architecture: Architecture has life and soul. The structure is the life of architecture, light and shadow are the soul of architecture. I am not only obsessed with structure, but also integrated conceptual structural design into my portfolio projects; I am also obsessed with light and shadow, not only paying attention to the relationship between light and shadow in the expression of drawings but the photography club I founded in school is named Shadow of Light . Out of consideration for urban development, in my collection of works, I have explored separately: The combination of variable mechanical structures and buildings in the city in the face of natural disasters. The physical experiments and the future bazaars in the old city are combinations of architectural design. The combination of Chinese dougong structure and large-scale buildings in the future high-density population cities. The introduction of post-productionism from the perspective of economics to explore the future urban-rural relationship.

MIRAGE 2050 The Borderless City in Post-epidemic Era
DESIGN NOTE This work is my exploration of the future architecture of cities in the post-epidemic era. In this age, the border of isolation constrains the order of the civilized world, and the issue of sustainable development determines the fate of the future city. This design is an urban scale with the purpose of "solving urban space constraints and enhancing disaster resilience". Sustainable green building research.
CONCEPT: The urban fabric is combined with magnetic lines to form the framework of the future sky city. ACADEMIC INDIVIDUAL DURATION: 2021 LOCATION: Shanghai, China
CONTEXT
THE FORM GENERATED
With the rapid development of information networks, the global mobility of capital and labor has increased, and a large-scale urbanization movement is unfolding around the world. It is estimated that the global urbanization level will reach 70% in the next 40 years. At the same time, the current world population is 7.3 billion. It is estimated that by 2100, the world's total population will reach 11.2 billion , And most of the new population appears in cities. The tide of the times violently impacts, deconstructs and reshapes the life and work patterns of contemporary people, prompting me to break through the shackles of the past and reflect on the future direction and boundaries of skyscrapers.
I believe that a single huge building with a strong "icon" is not the skyscraper needed in this era. We chose hundreds of thousands of square meters' scale as an aerial settlement composed of building clusters and open spaces.

BRIEF Cities have brought tremendous progress to human society, but they have also caused serious environmental problems. Exploring the possible ways of living in high-density cities, and sustainable urban development is one of the most severe challenges facing human society in the 21st century.
MAGNETIC ALGORITHM
Greening Rate Infectious Disease
Air Temperatures
Air Quality

Traffic Congestion
STRATEGY In this design, I tried to answer three questions: Firstly, what type of skyscraper space is needed in this era? Secondary, how to understand and establish the spatial organization relationship between the normalization of epidemic prevention and society's normal operation? Thirdly, how to introduce nature into buildings to improve the CBD's living environment?
Site analysis is based on a magnetic field algorithm. The high CBD in the city was selected as the magnetic attraction point, and the shape of the magnetic induction line was calculated through algorithm and experiment, and we found that it wasconsistent with the urban texture. We form a triangle by connecting each magnetic force point in the city, and the place where the building lands corresponds to the place with weak magnetic field texture.

Dougong element extractionThe form of this design scheme is extracted from Chinese dougong, which has good decorative and regional characteristics, and the modular characteristics of dougong are also in line with the development trend of future architectural forms. After the combination of the units like dougong, the western arch structure system is formed at macro level, which reflects the integration of eastern and Western architectural cultures in the future.

ANALYSIS OF COMMERCE MODE
The development of online commerce in the past decade is one of the main reasons for the decline in the vitality of traditional business districts such as Yingbin Road. Compared with traditional consumption patterns, online shopping provides people with more choices and lower prices.
In the urbanization process of Suizhou City, commercial and social spaces are usually loose. However, under the influence of the Internet, open urban public spaces and commercial places need to be combined into a coordinated complex building to con nect people's commercial and social needs in a more efficient way.

Design Description (II) :
· Wool-Thread Model I through the computer running wool algorithm to comb these streamline integration, and make the total path and the shortest. This theory comes from a famous simulation of path optimization by architecture and structure guru Frei Otto. Through this method, I can get the best path of crowd flow, and cut the generated route into the functional block of the building, so as to get the architectural form and functional flow based on computer optimization.

The Evolution thefuture, Productivist Countryside to the Post-Productionist Countryside I assume that in ofthe more people will return to rural areas to form low-density living areas and achieve a balance between rural and urban populations, which will help reduce the frequency of population migration and effectively prevent and control the epidemic.
In the post-productivist stage, the functions of townships are dominated by commercial and industrial production. In space, industrial agglomeration is separated from living space, and there are obvious functional divisions. Village landscape and production landscape are integrated with each other. Based on this, I imagine that in the future rural areas can develop new agriculture and cottage industry, rely on rural e-commerce to build a new urban-rural interaction relationship, and combine rural economy with rural landscape on the basis of traditional rural handicrafts, so as to protect the rural landscape in farming areas.

This is the bridge design I did in my junior year under the guidance of my tutor, who was my tutor when I studied civil engineering. As the tulou architecture is facing decline, I hope to awaken local people's attention to protecting the tulou culture through this design. Therefore, I designed this bridge by combining the architectural elements of the tulou. With the help of the instructor, I designed the bridge and completed the structural analysis and sketched the construction process. This project was used to participate in the Bridge Design Competition of World University students, and I finally got good results in the competition. *Tulou is a circular traditional building made of rammed earth in Fujian Province, China.

Step 2: Insert a trough-shaped steel cofferdam, support the cofferdam, pump water from the cofferdam, check the leakage of the cofferdam, stop the leakage in time, and clean the base.
Step 3: 1. Lay the crushed stone cushion, and then pave a layer of cement mortar after compaction for foundation masonry. 2. Set up the wooden formwork of the upper bridge of the foundation, pour the concrete, and maintain it until the concrete strength reaches 70% of the design strength, and remove the wooden formwork.
Step 4: Set up bowl buckle scaffolding and install arched wooden formwork. When the overall temperature of the bridge is 15℃ , the maximum stress of the bridge appears at the pier, and the maximum stress value is 3.1MPa<22.4MPa, which meets the requirements of the code.
When the overall temperature of the bridge is reduced by 11 ℃ , the maximum stress of the bridge appears on the outside of the pier, and the maximum stress value is 2.1Mpa<22.4Mpa, which meets the requirements.
The maximum vertical deflection under dead load occurs at the position of the flat bridge under the bridge span, which is in line with the expected situation, and the maximum deflection value is 3.6mm. The absolute value of the difference between the deflection under no-load condition and full-load condition is 0.4mm<57mm (L/600, calculated span L=34m), which meets the requirements.
Step 5: Pour the arched part of the concrete, maintain it until the concrete strength reaches 70% of the design strength, and remove the wooden formwork.
Step 6: Lay bridge deck paving, railings, corridors and other ancillary facilities.
