Timeless. As unique as a gemstone. Crafted with antique Roman glass. The Romans made this glass over two thousand years ago with the same intent and purpose that we use it for today: perfume, olive oil, wine, and water.
Ancient Israel was one of the largest glass producing regions within the Roman Empire. The glass was made of sand. Israel’s topography of vast sand dunes and beaches were perfectly suited for this. During excavations at several locations in Israel, bottles and pieces of ancient glass are still found today. Jéh Jewels uses these pieces to craft jewelry. Most pieces are blue/green in color. Due to the interaction of the natural minerals contained within the soil, the glass takes on many pearl-like color variations. This makes each piece truly unique.
The centuries old glass was used over thirty-two years ago in the first Jéh Collection series. Now we are excited to reintroduce Roman Glass in to our inimitable 2023 Collection, combined with Goldfilled, silver, gold plated and gemstone varieties.
