HER AUNT MARYELLEN, M.E., HER HERO”

# of Marathons Now Run:

11

Beth is running on Team ALSONE in memory of her aunt, Maryellen Standring, who was diagnosed with bulbaronset ALS in 2013 and passed away devastatingly, just months later on November 19, 2014, at age 67.

SMILES FOR M.E. Being active has always been a passion for our family and we wanted to find a special way to honor Aunt Maryellen, whom her grandchildren fondly called "M.E.". We wanted a way to come together, regardless of age or ability level, and find something that brought us smiles. We decided that walking and running miles would surely be therapeutic and "SMILES FOR M.E." was created. Not only did it provide a needed outlet for our entire family in helping us through our collective devastating journey of ALS, it continues to be our path in helping to fund a cure while improving the quality of life for those battling the disease now. My cousin Maura (my aunt's daughter), and my daughter, Emily, ran on ALS ONE's Falmouth Road Race team in 2016. Maura and I are so grateful and proud to have the opportunity to now be able to represent them in this year's Boston Marathon.

WE KNOW THAT OUR MILES BRING HER SMILES M.E. is the wind beneath her wings.

FOREVER INSPIRED BY HER HERO

OUR FAMILY IS

OUR EVERYTHING My Aunt Maryellen was an incredibly special woman and I loved her dearly. We come from a close-knit family and I was extremely fortunate to share many special memories with my Aunt Maryellen, Uncle Dave, Megan, David and Maura – along with my brothers and Mom and Dad. We all grew up together as one big family and it was devastating to learn of my aunt’s ALS diagnosis. She fought ALS courageously and is missed every day.

A PROUD MOMENT I'm so proud to be sharing the Boston Marathon experience with my daughter, Emily, who is running and raising funds for Rosie's Place. I'm so thankful that my cousin Maura and I have this chance to run for ALS ONE to support the collaborative work that is being done to further critical research and care.

THERE IS STILL SO MUCH TO DO and virtually, or in person, I plan to continue to be actively involved with ALS ONE for many years to come. To support Beth's fundraising for ALS ONE, please visit: http://bit.ly/Beth2020. or scan this QR code:
