# of Marathons Run:

Sarkis is running on Team ALS ONE in memory of his hero, his brother-in-law, Luther Halwadjian, who lost his very brave battle with ALS in November of 2019 at just 41 years old. Lu was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.
LUTHER WAS LARGER THAN LIFE Lu had a presence in any room he entered. He appeared to be a “tough guy”, and he was. BUT he also was one of the most caring, compassionate and generous people I knew. He was a dedicated and loving husband and an AMAZING father. He helped so many people through various difficulties.
JUST BREATHE I have a lot of great memories of Lu but this one stands out right now. Lu was my Best Man when I got married. The wedding was about to start. The back doors of the church opened, and I saw Rita getting ready to walk down the aisle.
MARYELLEN STANDRING I got hot, nervous, emotional and Lu could tell. He leaned in and whispered in my ear “just breathe”. It was the simplest thing to say to me but helped me so much. Years later, I whisper to myself when I’m in a tight situation “just breathe” and I
THINK OF LU
The wind beneath his wings.
FOREVER INSPIRED BY HIS HERO WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM LU
PATIENCE RESILIENCE DEDICATION PERSEVERANCE DISCIPLINE
MY REASON I am doing what I can to raise awareness and money for this cause. Lu was under the care of ALS ONE's Dr. James Berry and fortunate to receive essential equipment from their partners at CCALS. It empowers me to do my part to honor Lu’s life and help other patients and families who are battling that devastating disease.
WE NEED TO FIND A CURE and while we work on that, we're helping those who are courageously in the fight of their lives. Please consider Supporting my run for ALS ONE by going to:
