Let's collaborate as a group! Participate in this informal idea sharing session to hear what other student media organizations are doing, including successes, challenges and opportunities! All topics are fair game but we expect some discussion of news, advertising, engagement and recruitment topics, plus talk of the tools you're using.
11 a.m. - Noon Panel Discussion: Getting a Job or Internship

1 - 1:45 p.m. Collaborative Workshop: Sensitivity in Reporting on Specialized Issues
As student journalists, we may encounter sensitive issues that require a different approach than a typical news or ACT story. Join staffers of The Johnsonian and The Roddey McMillan Record for this collaborative workshop session to discuss the challenges and potential solutions when handling stories relating to race, disability and other sensitive issues that may pose a challenge for student journalists. Presenters include Ainsley McCarthy, editor-in-chief of The Johnsonian, Ravyn Rhodes, editor-in-chief of The Roddey McMillan Record, and Taylor Sallenger, graduate assistant for student publications.

You are welcome to stay in one roundtable the full hour or split between two at the 30-minute mark! Options include: News/Feature Writing | Sports Writing | Columnists/Editorial Writers | Design/Art | Photography | Editors/newsroom management | Digital/video/multimedia
