Restaurant Poster Individually, produce a still-life image for a poster for a restaurant that does not discriminate between the eating habits of its potential customers. Ie. it will serve vegetarian, meat, fish etc. Decide on a name for your restaurant. Shoot on a white background and create a 3 dimensional, sculpture/object that relates to the name of your restaurant, from items that should include bread, meat, vegetable, seafood, fruit and a drink. Submit as a tiff, an image sized to A1 (portrait format)@ 300 d.p.i. with your sculpture on a white background and the name of your restaurant in a colour of your choice. This should be shot on a white background, evidencing skills and knowledge from week 6 workshop.

Practise Idea

WHAT I USED: Pita bread - body of fish Vegetables (cucumber, broccoli) - Seaweed Raisins - bubbles Chicken drumstick - fish tail Lemon - Fins DIDN’T INCLUDE FISH.. My first attempt at this assignment was nit very successful and looked very amateur. I used things that were already in my fridge to try and get some ideas of how I could use food to make a sculpture. Although all most of the required ingredients were included, I thought it would be a better idea to do some research and plan out what I wanted to create and then I could go shopping for particular ingredients that would suit my sculpture instead of just using what I could find.

This sculpture is also landscape when it says portrait in the brief!

My first sculpture (left) is 2D and the brief clearly states that our object must be a 3-Dimensional sculpture or object.

In week 6 we practiced shooting food on a white background with the Phase One IQ140 camera. This was good practise for this assignment as we looked into how to eliminate shadows and started playing with the RAW adjustments including: the colour temperature, levels, hue and the saturation. We focused on the histogram, which showed the levels of black (0) and pure white (255) within the image. All of these skills used in the workshop were put to use whilist processing my final ‘food’ picture.

My Plan

THINGS TO BUY:

Bread - Bread bun Fruit - Pineapple, bananas, melon Vegetables - Carrot, tomato, cucumber Meat - Chorizo Fish - Prawns, small fish

Second Attempt

- Photographed on a roll of white paper instead of A4 pieces of paper stuck together. - Used cocktail sticks to keep food in place. - Used lamps to light sculpture on both sides to create as little shadows as possible. - Portrait Orientation.

Editing A1 = 59.4 INCHES X 81.4 INCHES

Use quick selection tool to cut out sculpture to create completely white background (255).

Final Outcome

a WISE choice. Owls = Wise - Appropriate Resturant name
