WELCOME |International Vice President Greetings Key Clubbers! My name is Hannah Nivar. I’m a member of the New Jersey Key Club District, and I currently serve as the International Vice President. All of the District Conventions that I’ve attended throughout the years have played a big part in those memories from learning about new ways to identify the needs within my community to meeting some of my closest friends. A plethora of opportunities can be made available to you if you are willing and have the slightest bit of bravery to make your way through. So wherever you may find yourself in your high school career and Key Club journey, I implore you to make the most of the time you have been given; introduce yourself to as many people as possible, collect information from forums to take back to your clubs, and remember to care with all of your heart. On behalf of Key Club International, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to our organization’s goals of making a difference in the world around us. Although I cannot be with you all during this beyond-amazing weekend, I wish you the best experience possible. Yours in Service,
Hannah Nivar 2018-19 Key Club International Vice President

WELCOME | District Governor “Being of service to others is what brings true happiness.” - Marie Osmond HELLOOOOO CNH KIWIN’S!!! WELCOME!!! Welcome to the 43rd Annual District Convention, Service Saves the Day! I am so beyond excited and honored to share this weekend with everyone here. I can promise you service, spirit, laughter, and tears throughout your time here. District Board Breaking “Bear”riers have put so much work into making this three-day experience the very best it can be, so I hope you have an unforgettable time. Whether this is your first convention, or last convention, I want everyone to immerse themselves into KIWIN’S. Take advantage of all the opportunities that are presented to you. This weekend will be full of love for our Ohana. There will be great workshops, special guests, recognition, and ice-breaker, so make sure to attend everything you can! Don’t be afraid to meet someone new, go to a new workshop, or even create a new cheer. Everyone here supports each other; after all, we’re one big Ohana. Over the past year, it’s been an incredible honor to be able to serve as your District Governor. My love for KIWIN’S will continue to grow and grow over time. Each service project, fundraiser, and meeting warms my heart to the brim. The people I have met throughout my time in KIWIN’S have truly each impacted me in such an indescribable way; I would not be the person I am today without KIWIN’S. KIWINNers in communities everywhere have been able to create such big changes not only to those around them, but to the world. I have never shared so much love and unity with so many outstanding individuals. Despite the hardships this District has encountered, we’ve still been able to serve and raise an immense amount of hours and dollars for both the Pediatric Trauma Program and the Thirst Project. Thinking about everything this organization has done truly brings me to tears. As high school students, we often get told that changing the world is impossible, but everyone here makes the impossible, possible. We have the opportunity to change the world as student leaders, and I am so inspired by each of you for taking the step to lead. Saying goodbye to such a major part of my life will be bittersweet. How can I let go of four years full of family, fundraising, laughter, and service? Fall Rallies, Rose Floats, Awake-a-Thons; I can’t believe that I won’t be coming to those events next year as a returning member. However, I know that KIWIN’S will always be with me. I will forever cherish the memories I’ve been able to experience with each of you. And now, I would like to thank you. Thank for coming to District Convention. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed to the success of this term. Most importantly, thank you for being a part of this lovely family. You are what makes this amazing District shine. Your passion, dedication, and enthusiasm to serve your home, school, and community continues to not only inspire me, but everyone around you. I cannot wait to meet, celebrate, and cry with you all this weekend. As we continue on with our lives, whether it be continuing high school or entering adulthood, remember that you will always be a part of the KIWIN’S Ohana. Once a Grizzly, always a Grizzly. KIWIN’S truly has my heart; uwu. Yours in service forever,
Nina Nguyen 2018-19 CNH KIWIN’S District Governor 7
District Secretary | WELCOME Hello Grizzlies! Wow wow wow! I can’t believe that District Convention is finally here. This term has gone by so fast, but I’m very proud of all that we have accomplished together. Whether it was helping us break records at Fall Rally or serving as an officer in your home club, I am so grateful for each and every one of you who has put time into helping our district succeed. If this is your first District Convention, I have a few suggestions for you to try this weekend. First, make a new friend. Meeting someone from a different division can leave you with a new and unexpected bond that you never would’ve had before. Second, try something new! Go to that dance workshop that sparks your interest or get Starbucks with your new friend. Lastly, have fun! Make sure that you’re taking advantage of all DCON has to offer, because before you’ll know it it’ll be Sunday morning. For all my old timers, although it’s our last convention, let’s be sure to truly make the most out of it. Let us cherish each workshop, each laugh, each elevator ride, each tacky dance move, and each memory we have left together. Regardless of if you’re a first timer or an old timer, I hope that you all come out of this weekend having learned new things, having met new people, and having made new memories. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to serve you this term. Yours in Service, Cameron Bernal 2018-19 CNH KIWIN’S District Secretary

WELCOME | District Treasurer Hello CNH KIWIN’S and welcome to District Convention 2019! I’m Tina Pham, your district treasurer, and I am so excited for you all to experience this SUPER weekend Jenna has planned so diligently with the district board. With so many engaging workshops, educational resources, and energetic general sessions, this weekend will surely be one for the books, and one I hope will redefine your outlook on our amazing organization. While a full weekend seems like a long time, it will be gone before you know it! I encourage you to break through your threshold of comfort and meet some new faces as soon as possible; you won’t regret it. Woodland Hills Marriott holds a special place in my heart as the location of my when I became elected the District Treasurer for the CNH KIWIN’S District. I have been to DCON all four years of my high school career and I must say that it is the most memorable experience you will have. Whether you’re meeting new people or learning new things, DCON is an experience you can’t find anywhere else. I hate having to end my KIWIN’S journey but I know that with this year’s convention, I’m going to end my term with a big bang. I am fortunate enough to have such strong role models in my life, my family, my friends, and my peers. They have supported me throughout all of my KIWIN’S career and for that I am forever grateful. Some people are not as fortunate as me to have such strong figures to lean on for support, but if that is the case for you then I say that it is your turn to become a role model for someone else. Whatever age or wherever you are in your life, I implore you to never stop serving. We are the future of this community, this nation, and this world. More people need to lead by example and that process begins with you. I hope those who of you who are in the midst of your KIWIN’S journey continue your path to success within our organization. Cherish the 2000-member-strong ohana that you have about you. Never stop exploring the opportunities that high school and our organization lend you. Success will find you by being kind and serving others. Thank you everyone for making these past four years the most amazing experience of my life. I am honored to have served as your district treasurer for this term, and am excited for these next two action-packed days! Yours in Service,
Tina Pham 2018-19 CNH KIWIN’S District Treasurer

District Bulletin Editor | WELCOME Hey CNH KIWIN’S! Welcome to the 43rd Annual CNH KIWIN’S District Convention! I am incredibly excited for all of you to experience this weekend. My first DCON was just last year and it changed my life, and I hope that it will for you, too. For those who are here for the first time: Congratulations! DCON is one of those rare events where you’re able to see the scope of what our organization is capable of. Seeing students from all different backgrounds and all across California gather in one place to cheer, cry, dance, and much more really opens your eyes to the opportunities that KIWIN’S gives to you to grow. These three days will go by in a blur faster than you know it, so make the most of it! Meet new people, go to workshops that interest you, and reflect on how much you’ve done in the past year. For those who are about to experience their last DCON: Congratulations! You made it. Do you remember what it felt like going to your first Fall Rally? When you started going to service events and saw the change you were making for your community? Or when you met an entirely new group of people that quickly became your second family? All of those experiences have led up to this moment. Now is the time to celebrate your successes and remember why you joined this club in the first place. You’ve grown so much, not just as a leader to your peers, but as a person. As you leave DCON this Sunday for the last time, I encourage you not to let that KIWIN’S spirit die, but to keep it close as you move on to wherever life takes you, and to remember the people that you’ve met on this KIWIN’S journey. Thank you to Jenna, who has been working tirelessly since May of last year to plan this event. She doesn’t get enough credit for all the work she does! Her commitment as our DCON Chair makes me confident that you have have an amazing time this weekend. You have the opportunity to experience so many different things, from the workshops to the talent show to recieving recognition for your work throughout the term. And if you haven’t heard yet, this year’s theme is “Service Saves the Day!“, because each one of your possess the power to serve your community and create a positive, tangible change in the people around you. With love,
Pauline Dang 2018-19 CNH KIWIN’S District Bulletin Editor

I would like to give a huge thank you to the Convention Committee and Mr. Carlos for all of the support and help throughout the term! Without their help, I truly would not have been able to pull off such a large event. Most importantly, I would like to thank all of you, the members! The District would not exist without you and an event like this would be nowhere near possible if not for all of your support. It has been an incredible honor to serve as your District Convention chair this past term and, with all of my heart, I wish you all the best time here at DCON 2019!! In the Spirit of Service

Shoutout to Torrance High School KIWIN’S for giving me the best 4 years of my life. You all have impacted me so much and I am so grateful to have known you. From being a general member to Publicity to President, and finally as your KFF Chair, you have been the ones who gave me encouragement every step of the way: believing in me when I didn’t myself. Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and letting me be a part of your family. Thank you for the laughs, smiles, and occasional cries. Thank you for 4 years of memories I wouldn’t trade for the world. I will miss you all dearly, love y’all long time! w/ love and sweet potatoes, Hanna G (AKA Mom)

Thank You for an amazing four years! To District Board Breaking Bearriers, Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to work with you this term. Despite the hardships we’ve encountered, the achievements we’ve been able to accomplish make me extremely proud. Though we’ve only been all together about 4 or 5 times, I feel like we’ve been able to become life-long friends. It’s been such an exciting ride, and I guess this is our last loop together. I love you guys! To Jade Division, Thank you for being my family for the past four years. You’ve supported me every step of the way, and I think saying goodbye will break my heart. The guidance and mentoring I’ve received from past members and advisors (love you Pandora, Larry, Victor, and Xioadi) have made me the student leader I am today. I may be a little biased, but Jade is the best division out there! Queen jaguar out.
Sincerely,
To Hercules High School, You are the club that started it all. My journey throughout high school would literally be nothing if it weren’t for you. I still remember my first event the summer of freshmen year. The people I met - Mr.Chan, Wilbert, Justin, Amanda, Serena, Peter, Ryan, Bre, and Nicolette - continue to play such a big role in my growth. Club meetings and the joke of the weeks will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for being my friend, my family, and my everything. Without this club, I wouldn’t have been able to create such amazing memories. I love you guys forever and ever. You can bet I’ll be back to visit.
