Comprehensive design studio
The concept for the building involves designing an infill between the two buildings on the site and the balancing of programmatic functions. The project integrates two main programmatic needs, a library and a community art gallery. The gallery serves as the main entrance from the ally way and is completely separate from the library. Materials are used to unify the building to the rest of the community. The idea of horizontal continuous lines leads the design of the cladding system and serves as a connection to the flat site. Program-designing an urban node Consist of a library with exhibition and museum space within a public plaza The library collection must focus on the city, improving relationships between site, city and its audience.
architectural design studio VI_ study abroad Montreal, Canada Bicycle library collection thesis A threshold is defined as an intangible moment that delineates inside and outside; a transition from one space into another space. The movement through a building can be then seen as a series of thresholds in hierarchy leading up to the terminus/ climax, which could be the top plaza for the bicyclist, vs. the library and research area for their walking counter parts. In terms of a story plot, the exposition can be, seeing the building from far away and seeing how the story will lay out by seeing the structure and climax of the building. The rising action is the paths leading up and through exhibition spaces. The climax is the top plaza for the bicyclist, vs. the library and research area for their walking counter parts. The falling action is the path down the building, and the denouement is the release into the city through the colored demarked paths.

Public space interaction thesis It is in cities where it is still possible for public space to work as a place of meeting and contact, which is the basis for any form of truly possible coexistence. Yet people live in the unsolicited yet obtrusive proximity of strangers. The city has increasing blurring of boundaries between public and private. Unity is not the object of the city because the city is pluralist, (the existence of different groups within a society). Seduction of the city arises from the fact that variety is a promise of opportunities. Then one then has the freedom of choosing to be interactive or not interactive.

architectural design studio III program _ "an architectural investigation of otherness by way of drastic programmatic and user juxtaposition" resulting in a multi-unit dwelling for a 'normal' and 'other' user site _ 1111 Broadway, Lubbock TX thesis My normal revolves around value dictating everything over architectural expression. The architecture is the space being rented inside and also the surface on the outside that is advertising. My other is about artistic expression which means it is not bounded by value, budget and resale value. As opposed to reducing the exterior to “images” viewed in passing from the outside, my ‘other’ architecture invites the public inside to view the artists living and working in the central core as well as view a gallery of “images” from the inside looking out. turkish coffee grounds sculpture
This project is about how coffee can be used to create a gathering center not only in the drinking process but also in an artistic way. Our project is set in a neighborhood community off of 26th St and Boston St. This cross section is the center of all traffic going in and out. It would be the ideal spot to introduce a sculpture that would create a sense of arrivement for this up and coming community. My sculpture would be placed in front of the existing coffee shop J & B so it would be ideal to use coffee as a driving force. Turkish coffee is a process of making coffee. Every detail must be done right in order to end up with tiny favorpunching cup of coffee. The coffee is drank while hot making sure you create many slurping sounds to compliment the cook/host. One must drink all but the thick slush of coffee grounds left at the bottom. Then you flip the cup to drain the residue. Patterns are left on the cup from where the coffee drained that are used for fortune-telling. It is this pattern I will use to start my sculpture.
I took many pictures of my coffee pattern and compiled it into one image that I could work from. I slowly began to change this image in Photoshop, creating different versions of threshold in each one. Finally I found one I liked, although it did not look complete. In the next version I overlaid two images slightly rotated to create a more dynamic pattern. I took this pattern and sent a variety of sizes to the laser cutter. I created many different little sculptures testing the tensile force of the chipboard, twisting each one into a creation of its own. From this herd I choice one that I would pursue more in depth.

Final_Sculpture
The sculpture will be placed in a patch of rass in front of J & B. It will become a sitting and walking area secluding you from the busy crossroad. The material of the sculpture will be a metal that would weather with the years. In time vines will weave in and out of the porous structure providing more shading area.
