Join Emily as she takes you on a collage quilting journey! In this 2-day hands-on class you will learn:
COLOR THEORY
• How to determine & create value sets using your fabric • Why and HOW to use the temperature of color • Ways to create contrast (the secret sauce of collage quilts) • How to select fabric for success in making a collage quilt
COLLAGE METHODS
• Emily’s newest and most innovative technique for making a collage quilt, “Parchment Pressing” • What the “Impressionist” method is and the advantages of thinking like an impressionist painter • The benefits for using templates and how to do so with different adhesives
MUST HAVE PRODUCTS
• Adhesives~ both glue and fusible web, and the advantages of using either one in collage quilts • Using freezer paper to make templates • Parchment paper and why it is Emily’s favorite product • Her favorite scissors and other products
CREATE YOUR PROJECT
• Spend your second day of class creating your own unique collage quilt. • Emily will guide you and be there to offer her advice and expertise • Share ideas and create with students with similar interests in art quilting Emily is a collage quilt artist from Sandy, Utah. She believes that understanding and applying foundational art principles is the secret for successful collage quilts. She sells her unique patterns and teaches her techniques for creating stunning collage quilts across the country.
