Selecting a VIDEOGRAPHER

Ask the Right Questions! !

• Will you be shooting my wedding?

If not, can I meet him/her? • May I see samples of your work? • What packages do you offer? What do they include? • How many cameras and microphones will be used and where will they be located? • Are you able to work with the restrictions on lights and tripods at the ceremony or reception site? • How long will it take to get our completed video? • Can I keep the raw, unedited footage? • Can you film while a photographer is present? • Will backup equipment be on hand for the event? • How far in advance must I book your services? • What is your cancellation policy? • Is a deposit required? If so, when and how much?

FLOWER POWER

Statement-Making Florals & Foliage

Flowers can do more than act as a pretty pop of décor. For both a beautiful photo op and a functional way to draw your guests eyes to the pivotal moments of the day, flowers are a fabulous way to accentuate the scene. At the ceremony, a traditional or rounded archway is a picture-perfect spot for saying “I do,” especially if your event is being held outdoors. Your archway could be anything from a simple wooden frame adorned with a few floral flourishes, or an entire arbor lush with leafy greenery and a bounty of blooms.

Living walls and full-floral backdrops also look lovely at the ceremony and can double as a stunning open-air photo booth for guests at the reception. Can’t commit to an entire archway or wall of foliage? Consider a pair of statement-making arrangements to frame your altar. These showstoppers can then be moved to your reception location and strategically placed among the rest of the décor.

SUSPENDED BLOOMS

When it comes to wedding reception centerpieces, there has been a recent surge of suspended floral pieces. For practical reasons, it’s nice to get the flowers off the table and allow more room for easy chatting and dinners served family style. If gorgeous impact is your goal, a hanging flower arrangement is tough to top. Chandeliers draped with greens and flower boxes that run the length of reception tables pack an unforgettable punch.

UNIQUE GUEST BOOK IDEAS

At an intimate wedding, one super-long table set under a bloom-filled wooden pergola, woven with lights, is nothing short of magical. Don’t have the budget for such an elaborate scene? You might work with your florist to craft a series of hanging geometric pieces trimmed with greenery. These could be large wooden frames wrapped in budding vines, or a cluster of hoops strung together and festooned with flowers. Embrace this “less is more” aesthetic for all the impact at a fraction of the cost.

WEARABLE WONDERS

Until lately, the most popular wearable wedding blooms were flower crowns. Now, brides are branching out in their floral fashions. A close cousin to the flower crown, floral tiaras are having their moment. These are a little less bulky than the traditional crown, perhaps being tied with a ribbon at the back of the head, rather than an abundant wreath of flowers. Cuffs of flowers are also on the rise for both brides and bridesmaids, as well as the occasional statement necklace made of greenery. When it comes to the groom and his groomsmen, however, you may notice that simplicity is where its at; no lapel gardens, rather simple, unfussy boutonnieres.

WHAT’S ON TREND

Popular blooms range from exotic protea and anthuriums to old fashioned dahlias and chrysanthemums, lauded for their remarkable range of color. Some brides are all about the tropics, while others turn to their own backyard, incorporating branches, leaves, and wildflowers found in local plant-life for a field-to-vase vibe. B
