TYPOGRAPHY
TYPOGRAPHY
wave font | TypeTool | 2014 Wave is characterized by curved lines and intricate details. All typography and fonts begin with pen and paper to create the most organic and unique designs. Each character was then individually made in Illustrator and TypeTool using my original illustrations. Wave is a decorative font best used for titles or short bursts of texts in large point settings. The typeface is based on the uppercase letterforms, but I have also created lowercase letters, numbers, and glyphs. The motion lines used in the making of Wave mirror an art deco-style. Inspired by an illustration of a large wave, I was fascinated that by using only lines and solid colors we as artists can depict the translucency and ever-changing movement of waves. I began by delicately sketching out all of the letters using graph paper and micron pens.

DJ Logo for Turntables | Snowmass | 2013 This logo design was made for turntables. Because the design is symmetrical down the middle, any way you look, it should read “SNOWMASS. The N and the S, the O and the A, the M and the W, are all interchangable. The design was originally made from a hand drawn sketch and completed in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

HAND LETTERING Hand lettering has been a passion of mine forever. I love letter forms and seeing how illustration can be incorporated within them. These are some examples of my hand lettering collection from 2013 and 2014. See more at: Instagram.com/JDillustration

PACKAGING DESIGN Graphic Label | 2014 The Graphic Label uses a more controlled hand-drawn typography and stacked type. The curvaceous attitude of the hand-drawn type breaks the mold of the traditional stacked type and engages the windmill graphic above it. The idea of freeing the more traditional values is a reflection of the adventurous nature of Magnifico. The type also involves small vine-like details to connect the label back to the Castillo Juan Navarro family vineyard. The windmill symbolizes the movement and the status of the family vineyard.

Typographic Label | 2014
The Photographic Labels use pictures from the Castillo Juan Navarro Vineyard as a backdrop. The pictures mix black and white with a colorful overlay to communicate youth and adventure. The photographs symbolize a chivalric desire to connect back to the beauty of nature.
The typographic label is a decorative, organic design with an adventurous feel. The vines intertwine with the typography and envelope the silhouette of Spain, which changes colors from each bottle using purples and reds as a reflection of the wine varietals. The vines symbolize history, trust, growth and new adventure.

PACKAGING DESIGN
PACKAGING DESIGN botticelli pasta | pasta box design | 2014 Botticelli’s brand values promote family and tradiation, a healthy lifestyle, convenience, and authenticity. I used the brand values to create packaging that is functional, engaging and could stand out against competitors on the shelf. The example to the left was the final choice. It uses the window to show the pasta so the customer knows exactly what they are getting, The badge includes Italian colors to unite the packaging back to its roots. The chalkboard feel and hand drawn type also shows that the pasta is hand crafted and healthy.

PACKAGING DESIGN
PACKAGING DESIGN micron rebrand | 2014 When I create a new package design, the following aspects of a package are reviewed: size and shape, color, closure, outside appearance, protection and economy, convenience, labeling, and the packaging material’s effect on the environment. I love finding new and interesting ways to incorporate the packaging with the material inside the package. Micron pens are an amazing tool for all kinds or designers. The pens are made specifically for fine-point technical and artistic applications, but their packaging did not reflect the brand values. This is why I chose to do a redesign for Micron.
The hexagonal package was created as a reflection of the six different colors and six different weights Micron offers. Each pen would have a separate triangular compartment to store the pen. The typography on the package displays a spilled ink effect. The black package design highlights the logo redesign. I changed the Sakura flower just slightly to make the petals double as pen tips. The window would allow customers to see what the actual pen would look like. The illustrated package best promotes Micron’s brand values by connecting the artwork to the pen. The illustration was originally made with the pens and shows the detail a designer can achieve using these pens. By illustrating the pen itself, there is no need for a window. The package is imaginative and promotes Micron’s brand values.

WEB DESIGN personal portfolio site | jenniferdelaneydesigns.com | 2014 Web design has been a challenging way to find new ways to create user-centered experiences that engage the audience through multichannel programs. My personal portfolio was made using Dreamweaver. It is a one-page scrolling site that is easy to navigate. Using HTML, CSS, Jquery, and Javascript, I was able to make my site stylish. I even included some interesting hover effects and a slideshow for the landing page. My site reflects my entire self promotion and brand. The color scheme matches my business card and resume as well as my Wordpress blog. My site is always growing and changing. Check it out at JenniferDelaneyDesigns.com.

POSTER DESIGN wells street art festival | 2014 This poster was created for a competition in Chicago where the winning design would be the centerpiece of the promotional campaign for the 2014 Wells Street Art Festival. Using my original sketch, I completed the poster in Adobe Illustrator using a limited color palatte and grunge effects.

POSTER DESIGN Indielane Poster | 2013 Although my posters typically include both textual and graphic elements, this poster is completely typographical to emphasize the hand drawn aspect. I scanned my original drawing into Photoshop and Illustrator and finished it up in that software.

ADVERTISING
21
ADVERTISING Advertising is a relevant and powerful medium to get any message across. It should be obvious who the ad is for without even needing to see the brand name. For example, the first image below is an anti-smoking ad encouraging children to be smart and creative. The advertisement shown on the left is for a perfume I created called Pure Heroin. The typography was originally hand drawn. The images were created using Photoshop, while the text was made in illustrator.

APPAREL DESIGN southview | freelance | 2014 Southview is a Chicago based start-up business selling sports socks. First, I worked with the company to make their logo. The logo is a lighting bolt, but also contains the “s” representing “south” and the “v” representing “view”. A generous percent of the proceedings go to helping Chicago public schools prevent gun violence. I am the “sole” designer.
