POR LTFO IO

Hello!

Jennifer Destefanis

I’m a straighforward person yet curious and creative. I’m observant, and know how to listen and express myself through drawing. My passions are art, nature and speed. When we understand each other, I like technology too. I’m always looking forward to doing and learning new things, to learn new languages and meet new people. I love travelling, swimming a lot and I’m interested in understanding how concrete things work. I strongly believe that “good design” could improve peoples’ life quality, and that it plays a very important role in the attempt to save the environment and future generations.

Jewel designed for the company Antica Murrina of Venice. The necklace is inspired to an ancient Venetian tradition called “lo sposalizio del mare“: during this ceremony a golden ring was thrown into the waters of the lake to symbolize the marriage of Venice with the sea. The asymmetric jewel is made of silver and Murano glass beads. The color of the beads, their dimensions and disposition are studied to recall the flow and reflections of the lake water; while the silver ring is the lock and the focal point of the object. Work in team.

Project realised during the course of Scenary Design, for the social cooperative Il Cammino of Biella. The goal of the workshop was to design a product recovering waste from the textile industry. The result is a multi-function object, designed as a toy for children, but able to perform other functions such as linen container or magazine rack. It is therefore an object shared between adults and children. To lengthen the life of the product we have tried to give it a shape that would facilitate the creation of an emotional bond with the user. The shape is inspired by a turtle, a placid animal with a large shell that lends itself well to contain several objects. The carapace consists of tubes tissue padded, arranged on a centina to give them the characteristic disposition. Work in team. 9
