UBRICA Retail Clinical Center The idea behind this Retail Clinical Center in Africa is to encourage people of the community to take better care their health. The Kangema Settlement in Murang’a, Kenya was a great location for this center because it has many shopping centers, bus stations, schools, etc., making it accessible for those who live in the community or further away. My design intent was to construct with local materials and construction methods and to integrate the landscape into the project.

HEB Market of the Future Team: Luis Garibay, Fu Chen, Yi Yu, Alex Langford Our project for HEB was to design a supermarket of the future at the intersection of health, wellness, nutrition and education. Our mission was to design an HEB that would promote health and wellness, provide convinience and an experience for shoppers of all ages. Our main concept consisted of a drive-thru and a rooftop garden. Based on our concept we chose our site in Spring, Texas next to Highway 45 going North because of the heavy traffic.

Interconnection Study Abroad- Barcelona, Spain Team: Sephorah Belizor Interconnection is a renovation and conversion of a textile factory located in the Can Batllo neighborhood in Barcelona, Spain into a community center that will revitalize the area. One of our goals was to interconnect two existing buildings with a new addition. With this addition, we created additional space without interrupting the site. With the new canterlievered volume we created a series of ascending and descending spaces thruought the buildings. Another goal we had was to transform the building into a place where people would be encouraged to interact with others, share ideas and make things happen. The facility consists of a library, lounge, indoor/ outdoor restaurant, and an art and technology workshop.

Hand Drawings Translating the Unseen Some buildings do not rely on air conditioning systems for comfort. Instead, a tertiary skin such as a light screen can be used on buildings’ windows. This screen acts as an amenity providing shade for people and pleasant shapes to look at on the walls and floors at various times of the day. Medium: Charcoal
