personal statement
“Supposing is good,
but finding out is better.” –Mark Twain
Having spent the majority of my adult life raising a very large family, I can say, without hesitation, I have engaged in a massive amount of problem solving; sometimes, even successfully. After years and years of solution seeking, I have learned three very important lessons: First, problem solving requires both observing and understanding patterns; beneficial and unfavorable. Second, the best - and most sustainable - solutions, without question, emphasize the beneficial while minimizing the unfavorable. And, third - best phrased by Einstein - “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking used when we created them.” Sounds a lot like Landscape Architecture to me.
