WEEK 01 Task: Model a basic NURBS surface replica of a famous building whose form is curved, for example the Sydney Opera House. Apply the OcTree component to your surface(s) and create a ‘blocky’ version of your chosen building.
Create NURBS Surfaces > GRASSHOPPER > Geometry > Set Multiple Geometry > Populate Geometry > OcTree > number slider
WEEK 02 Task: Set up the Kangaroo Physics Plug-in for Grasshopper. Model a few columns (tree trunks) and aim to suspend a mesh between the columns, as well as anchoring the mesh to the columns.
Kangaroo is a live physics engine which allows for interactive simulations within grasshopper. For this task, a mesh was created, with anchor points underneath and around the perimeter. The Kangaroo ‘springs from line’ option was used and connected to the Kangaroo physics simulator. This then allowed fluid shapes the fluid shapes to be created.
WEEK 03 Task: Play around with Kangaroo. Watch LAVA - Green Void Case study tutorial and use these techniques, or techniques in the Mesh Relaxation video, in order to create something unexpected.
FRACTALS CASE STUDY 1: I originally planned to pick biomimicry as my research field. I experimented with The Morning Line definition.
METABALLS CASE STUDY 1: After changing my research field to sectioning, I trialed creating sections/contour curves using the metaballs tool. This gave interesting outcomes.
SECTIONING CASE STUDY 2: I experimented with a varitety of parametric tools in order to reproduce the lignum pavilion.
