Discuss safety measures While no one can predict every emergency scenario, it’s a good idea to talk with children about what might go wrong on vacation. Explain what they should do in the event of an emergency. Have them practice a fake emergency scenario a few times. If the family is going to be around a large crowd, make sure the younger kids are wearing something easily noticeable, such as a bright color. Parents should take pictures of their kids and what they are wearing that day in case they do go missing. Always research the vacation spot Too many travelers pick spots that are appealing to them but not family-friendly. A quick background check on the vacation spot can help weed out any danger, especially if the crime rates are high there. Researching the area thoroughly is the best way to prepare for a safe visit. If traveling internationally, travelers may need the appropriate vaccines and paperwork, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Practice child-proofing immediately Most parents are diligent about child-proofing their homes but not so worried about it when they are on vacation. But children still can and will get hurt in hotels. Parents can call the hotel ahead of time to find out if there are any child-proofing methods the hotel can provide themselves. However, parents should always bring along the appropriate supplies, such as child locks, gates, and playpens. Keep track of the kids Small children will easily disappear in a crowd. Luckily, wearable tracking bracelets have hit the market. Investing in wearable GPS devices for kids to wear while on vacation will help keep them safe in crowded theme parks, boardwalks, and other popular tourist attractions. Be prepared for scrapes Kids can and do get cuts and scrapes while on vacation. Having a medical first aid kit on hand is always a must. A kit should be packed with the necessities, such as disinfectant
