Feature Couple (cont’d.) How did you meet? We met at a bridal show! I was working the booth for VIP and he was the Food & Beverage Manager of the hotel that the bridal show was being held at. Throughout the show, he kept walking past our booth and I kept noticing he was looking at me. Finally, at the end of the show, he came over and introduced himself and the rest was history! How did he propose? We went to Disney World for my 25th birthday. The morning of my birthday, he had this set up in the living room of the condo we were staying at. There was a single rose along with a glass slipper. When I turned around, he was down on one knee. Advice from you for future brides... Don’t sweat the small stuff. LOOKING BACK Built in 1780, Bell Gate Farm was once one of the three largest farms in Pennsylvania, and visitors would travel hundreds of miles to visit these pastoral lands. Nestled at the bottom of a Valley further reinforces what we know historically about the property. Built upon a
spring, the occupants had plenty of water and the resources for all aspects of farm living from cooking to the ability to keep perishable foods cold. When Bell Gate Farm was purchased in the early 1960s by the owner’s parents, it was important to the family to save the house and the nearly 268 acres all as one parcel, as they were committed to keeping the land undeveloped and protected. Approximately 130 acres are still being farmed today – a true testament to the Stevens’ family work and dedication in the community.

Vendor Spotlight:
Dice Productionz
By C. Carroll Photos: Jenn Roberts Photography
When looking for the right company to play your favorite music after the “I Do’s” have been said, there are many things you should take into consideration. I had a chance to talk with Dan Sisson, owner of one of the top DJ companies in Lehigh Valley, Dice Productionz, and he told me a story of love and family that could be an inspiration for anybody trying to achieve the American Dream. It is driven by a desire to make every bride and grooms dream day a reality. Dan tells me that there are three very important aspects to a fantastic day. First, the venue is critical- and by that he means the food. The guests and bridal party will remember the food factor, so whether the venue provides the food or you have your own caterer, this is the heart and soul of your day. Second- the photographer- because while the memories will fade over time, pictures will last forever. The third thing, (and he probably
thinks this is the most important) is your DJ company. At Dice Productionz these devoted, beautiful people add value to your day with special treatment that creates an environment that relaxes the bride and groom. Having been a DJ for over 35 years, Sisson knows the details that really smooth the wedding experience for the loving couple and he has the crew to pull it off. It is a family owned company that starts with his beautiful wife, Allyson. It began seven years ago and the family aspect was baked into the name. His son Eric loved dice and the letters represent his daughters Danielle and Courtney and his son Eric. They incorporated Allyson’s son Zach by being clever with the last word ProductionZ. Dan says it started with him marrying the

Dan says she is the glue that holds Dice together and keeps the business moving. Dan’s brother Dave is an important member of the staff and Dave’s son, Joey, mans the photobooth when he’s not at college. He rounds his staff off with trustworthy people who understand the keys to a successful day. “Give me your stress!”, is what he tells the bride and groom because Dice has the key to the stress-free experience. It starts with a consultation that takes place in a comfortable atmosphere where they listen to what the couple thinks their day will look like, how it will unfold, and what they want it to feel like. Then they get to work in creating that reality and making sure the wedding is being done according to plan. Of course, the music is most important, and the couple gets to choose what they want. After all, it is their day. Worried about the music selection, don’t! Dice has the music no matter what genre or ethnicity. Playing the right songs is of critical importance
16 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
and part of the stress free experience. In addition, a basic timeline is formulated to create the master plan. All paperwork can be done on line along with the music requests. Ambience is one of the keys to a perfect day, and while music is most important, people want the extras to include lighting and photobooths. Dice Productionz has 3 DJ’s, 5 photobooths that make memories that last, and all the lighting needed to create the perfect atmosphere. The photobooth package includes props, attendants, and pictures in the form of 3 picture strips. The photobooths are either 6’x6’or 10’x10’ to accommodate the largest parties and it is one flat fee for 4 hours unlimited. All of the pictures taken are given to the bride and groom in the form of a flash drive or DVD that evening. If you are planning a Saturday October wedding, you need to book way in advance. 2018 is already half full. Fridays and Sundays are more available. Otherwise you will need to call for availability. Call 610-217-5672 or email info@diceproductionz.com or visit the website at www.diceproductionz.com. Don’t be surprised if Allyson is your contact!

Fiancé and Finances Five Questions to Ask Before Marriage
By Family Features
Marriage is a milestone in life; yet, many enter into the next phase without asking their spouse some vital questions about money. If you are among the soon-to-be wed, consider starting a conversation using the questions below. Couples who plan their expenses ahead of time are more likely to enjoy their earnings, and less likely to need credit repair intervention.
Men, women and weddings
Females are often portrayed as materialistic or over-the-top when it comes to their big day, but recent findings from an online Harris Poll tell a different story. Surprisingly, the study found that twice the number of men stated they would or did go into debt to pay for their dream wedding. The study also found that both men and women valued financial responsibility. In fact, 91% indicated a preference for entering marriage debt-free as opposed to having a dream wedding. “Marriage is a lifelong commitment built on trust, clear communication and honesty,” said John Heath, Directing Attorney for Lexington Law. “While some may find financial discussions unnecessary, understanding each other intimately in terms of what you both bring to the table – be it wealth or debt – will strengthen your relationship and help to avoid potentially serious friction to your marriage down the road.”
Discussing money matters
So how does one go into a marriage with a solid financial standing? Those soon-to-bewed couples who converse openly about their finances are more likely to enjoy their big day with an understanding of their mate’s views on money. The experts at Lexington Law offer these questions every newly engaged couple should ask before the big day:
1. How do you view money?
This is a loaded question, but your fiancé’s answer will help you understand their perspective and how it aligns with yours. Here are a few conversation starters on the subject: • How do you budget your money? • Are you meticulous about your bills and expenses, or are you comfortable to just “wing it?” • What’s the most you would ever spend on a home, car, piece of clothing, etc.?

Fiancé and Finances cont’d 2. How should we budget for a family?
Kids are expensive, especially if you haven’t planned for them. Talk to your partner about how many kids you would both like to have. Plan for child living expenses and how they will impact your budget, i.e. clothes, food, activities, medical expenses, schooling, etc.
3. How should we communicate about money?
Some couples are content to let one person handle the finances, and others like to split up the bills and share household responsibilities. Regardless of what you decide, it is important to have a plan in place before getting married.
4. What should we do when we disagree about spending?
You and your spouse won’t agree on everything. In fact, you may completely disagree on how to spend, save, and generally manage your money.
20 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
The question is: What should you do when these disagreements arise? Avoiding the subject will put you at greater risk for financial (and marital) trouble. There’s no easy answer for this one, but presenting the topic during your conversation is a good start.
5. Do you have any debts that I should be aware of?
Secrets aren’t the best addition to a marriage, especially when it comes to debt. Be sure you and your soon-to-be put the credit cards on the table before walking down the aisle. Marriage is a life partnership; start by dealing with your debt together. You’ll head into your new life as a married couple with ease when you have an open and honest dialog about your financial situation.

Pa. Marriage License What You Need to Know by County Laws By C. Carroll
Are you ready to walk down the aisle and exchange vows with the one you love? Are you ready for two worlds to join as one? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then here is want you need to know in order to have a legal marriage in Pennsylvania. The marriage laws may vary from county to county as each marriage license bureau could have their own requirements and the appropriate Clerk of the Orphans’ Court office will have the specific requirements necessary in your local area.
That said, every couple that intends to get married in Pennsylvania must apply for a marriage license, and there are certain rules that govern who may get a marriage license, how to get it and when it is valid. According to the website: www.weddingvendors. com, Pennsylvania recognizes heterosexual and same sex marriages where the people wanting to marry are not currently married to someone else. In addition, the couple that wishes to marry can not be related as first cousins, parent and child, siblings, aunt and nephew, uncle and niece or grandparent and

grandchild. A person must be 18 years of age in order to get married without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. A person under the age of 16 must have the consent of a judge and a parent. The couple must go in person to the county courthouse with a valid driver’s licenses, passport or another acceptable form of identification as well as proof of social security number in order to apply for a license. A license fee will be required with your application and the fee varies from $25 to $85 depending on the county. If either person has been previously married, he or she must bring proof of the divorce decree. This needs to state the date of the decree, the county and state and must provide for proof of name change if applicable. A copy of an annulment must have the same information as the divorce decree. If a widow/ widower, the date when the former spouse dies is necessary. Getting a new marriage license with your name on it doesn’t mean your name has automatically changed. An online marriage name change kit will help you with that. There is a 3-day waiting period in Pennsylvania and you can pick up your license up at the county court house or have it mailed to you. It is valid for 60 days and a marriage license obtained in Pennsylvania can be used anywhere in the

A Different Approach Creative Alternatives to the Sit Down Dinner By Laurin Fegley Looking for some different, out of the ordinary ideas when it comes to the food offerings at your reception? Below you will find suggestions that will cover the gamete from A-Z and everything in between. International Food Stations
Not sure what to serve your guests? Why not have a selection of buffet tables each with a different food specialty? You can turn a simple item like soup or a salad or even tacos - into a fabulous and fun experience that guests won’t soon forget! Doing it this way, everyone can have their favorite food, from fish or meat to pizzas, pasta or even a curry. With so many different possibilities, your guests will be able to sample a lot of different foods and will certainly be impressed with all the choices! We usually recommend at least 3 stations for a reception, offering multiple choices to even the most sophisticated palette!
Cheese and Wine
After a late afternoon ceremony, serving cheese and wine at a wedding can be a classy and budget-friendly alternative to a full dinner. Make sure you have a variety of wines and accompany different cheeses with grapes, figs and other interesting fruits. Have a selection of breads with pâtés and cold meats as well and combine this with hors d’oeuvres so you have a variety of sophisticated tastes for your guests to choose from. This a perfect choice for a budget conscience couple 26 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
Buffet Style Reception
Buffets are great if you’re looking for an inexpensive alternative to a three-course meal. They allow guests to eat at their own pace and take less time and effort than sit-down meals. Buffets also allow you to have a variety of food, as many cuisines as you wish and are an easy way of making sure there is something that everyone will enjoy. A dessert buffet can also work well for a later wedding and is a tasty way to round off the day.
A Different Approach (cont’d.)
Picnics
Picnic, not barbeque! This is a great idea for an outdoor spring/summer venue and is a fun way of creating an informal and relaxed wedding that’s perfect for getting your guests to mingle. Why not lay out blankets or decorate your venue with cute gingham tablecloths and fill up pretty picnic baskets with a selection of breads, cheeses, fruits and other sharing snacks? Just uncork some champagne and you’ll have a wedding to remember!
fondue. This can also be done as a fountain item with soft pretzel sticks, veggies or other cheeses and served with a beer cheese soup flowing through the fountain! Finish your meal with plenty of fruits and marshmallows for your guests to dip into a traditional chocolate version.
Afternoon Tea
Keep your wedding simple and elegant with a fabulous British afternoon tea. Provide your guests with dainty sandwiches, a selection of cupcakes, scones with clotted cream and jam and plenty of champagne. This can be a fun theme to play with and can create a gorgeous, vintage style wedding. This is also a great idea if you’re short on time and don’t want a meal in the late afternoon that will leave your guests too full. A couple of vintage cars would make this a classic party without the full cost of a dinner and everyone will think it was a really special way to celebrate your day!
Fondue
You could serve fondue in round starting with cheese accompanied by a selection of breads and raw veggies followed by an oil-based, meat Spring 2017 | Exquisite Bride 27
A Different Approach (cont’d) Pancakes
We all know pancakes are impossible to resist! Why not begin with a selection of savory crêpe options? With a variety of fillings available ranging from cheese and ham to fancy and original recipes, you’ll be sure to cater to everyone as guests can build their own options into their creations. Satisfy a sweet tooth and finish with traditional sweet pancakes for your guests. If you want to create a completely pancake-filled day, why not have a wedding cake that’s made entirely of pancakes, too? (Yes, they do exist!)
Barbeque
Who doesn’t like a barbeque on a sunny day? Barbeques are a lovely choice for summer.
28 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
A Different Approach (cont’d) weddings and can be an inexpensive and different way of feeding your guests. The menu can be as simple or as complex as you like, from sausages and gourmet barbeque recipes to grilled fish and seafood. And we won’t forget some vegetarian options either!
Pig Roasts
Think southern barbeque here - a classic looking buffet with collards and corn breads. Give your wedding a festival feel by choosing a pig roast. Served with apple sauce and stuffing, maybe baked potatoes or salt roasted bliss potatoes? This can be a really cost-effective option, compared to the traditional sit-down meal. You could also serve salads, pasta dishes, potato salad and coleslaw to go with your hog – which also solves any issues with vegetarians.
Fiesta
The Spanish know how to party and a fiesta can be a fun celebration for a wedding. Keep with the theme and serve your guests tapas. Although small, they can still be hearty and filling and there will definitely be something for everyone! Tapas-style food encourages your guests to move around and mingle with others during the meal and you can experiment with lots of different recipes and ideas.

Ordering Your Gown Online Don’t Be Fooled! By Samantha Parks
We, as consumers, are always looking for a bargain or to save a few dollars in these trying economic times and weddings aren’t any exception. Getting married is a very costly investment for the happy couple and their families and brides are looking to cut costs wherever they can. For that reason, many brides have taken to ordering their wedding gowns and attendant’s gowns online thinking that they can save some money and still get the dress they were hoping for. But don’t be fooled! When ordering your gown online please remember that you are ordering strictly by a photo that touts they have the “Designer” dresses at bargain prices. However, most of these sites are from overseas and the photos that you are viewing on their sites are stolen right off of the real designers’ websites.
Weigh the pros and cons of taking a chance on ordering from knock-off websites. Some of these sites can look very legitimate but ask yourself these questions:
Sadly, when the dress arrives, the bride quickly realizes that the dress they have received is not the same dress they ordered from the beautiful picture they viewed online. It doesn’t fit properly and the quality is extremely poor. The glass or Swarovski Crystals have been substituted for plastic sequins. The material is not what was described. The stitching is very sloppy or even torn out. Worst of all, your dress might not even be the same one that you ordered or you might not get one at all. Brides, beware of these counterfeit sites and do your due diligence!
3. Where will I go to get the dress altered if it doesn’t fit or will I even be able to have it altered at all?
40 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
1. Will I get the exact same dress that is in the picture? 2. Will it be pressed when I receive it and if not where will I take it to have that done?
4. Will I be dealing with a live person to answer my questions, ensure that I get what I ordered and deal with any issues I may have once I receive it?

5. Will I be assured that I will even get Bela Bridal: my dress when I order it? 6. Do I really know who I am dealing with? If any of these questions pose a doubt in your mind, don’t do it! Spending $300 dollars on a counterfeit dress can mean throwing your money right down the drain. That money could have been spent toward an authentic designer gown at a legitimate bridal salon that you can count on to give you the service and attention you deserve and will help make sure that you really do end up with the gown of your dreams. The Bridal Veil A Finishing Touch
By Susan Powell, Owner, Bridals by Sandra
To veil or not to veil, that is the question. Today’s Bridal Designers are creating new and exciting looks for their beautiful bridal creations. For many seasons the trendy bride felt it stylish to omit this important finishing touch. However, today’s designers are featuring hair ornaments with creative veiling to complete the bridal attire. There is a very special feeling a bride gets when she puts on her veil to begin her walk down the aisle.
The bridal industry has changed greatly throughout the years. The wedding gown companies manufactured both the gown and the matching veil. They were featured together in magazine and all print ads. Today, companies are more specialized. The veils are more creative and unique. They are produced in a different facility and frequently not coming together for print ads. Although the reasons for wearing a veil differ with religious and cultural beliefs, there is no denying the emotional feeling a girl will have when placing it on her head for the very first time. In 2015, shoe designers have taken us back to‘70s with the return of the popular platform shoe. Today’s hair ornaments continue with the return of the 70’s trend by showing off the wide, Woodstock inspired headband and floral wreath. They are worn with or without the traditional bridal veil. Fashion forward veils are trimmed with the same Swarovski crystal trim or detailed lace featured on your wedding gown with many designers also choosing to add the romantic beauty of silk flowers to the veil.

The Bridal Veil cont’d The stylish Angel Cut or Shaped Veil begins at the shoulders and flows to the fingertips creating a more romantic styling. The Straight Cut Veil is worn behind the shoulders to create a more sophisticated look. Petite brides, as well as the tall model type bride, both enjoy the whimsical beauty of the cathedral length veil that will elongate the bride and show off the beautiful train detailing. The veil is cut wider to avoid hiding the beauty of your gown. This veil will be bustled into your gown during your fitting so you can appreciate its beauty without removing it at the reception. Be cautious of the classic fingertip length veil as it often cuts off the back of the gown creating an unflattering appearance of a line going across the back of your gown. It may need to be shortened during your gown fitting to avoid this unflattering line. Your Professional Bridal Consultant will assist you with these concerns to insure you the perfect gown photos. You will be able to wear the special veil only once. Be sure when shopping for your Dream Wedding Gown, you try on a veil at the same time. Don’t forget its importance. Your wedding day is a once in a lifetime moment. Shapes of Bridal Veils have changed greatly. A long cathedral veil is not cut wider than any 46 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
other veil. The long veil should be worn 12” longer than the train of the wedding gown. It will be wider than the other veils to show off the back of the gown without hiding the gorgeous back detailing of today’s fashions. A shaped veil starts at the shoulders and will also add height to that petite bride. Beaded trim on the edge of the veil will add a finishing touch to a beaded gown neckline. Today’s Bride enjoys that feminine flair. Whether arranging a wedding outdoors, on a beach, in a garden, winery or natural barn setting, the feminine, romantic appearance of that veil in the breeze is the delicate touch today’s bride appreciates.

Social Media
Pros and Cons for Wedding Planning By Frederick Jerant
Social media – whether Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest or another platform -- are ubiquitous. And the technology has revolutionized our communications. It’s now easier than ever to stay in touch with each other, and to share information with a few keystrokes. In fact, that whole tech family has had a huge impact on wedding planning. But how can you use social media to enhance your wedding – and not overwhelm it? Tim Miller, owner of Photography by Tim and Liz Miller, has shot weddings galore, and shares a few insights on the use (and abuse) of social media. Social media can save hours of traveling and phone calling as you prepare for your big day. “Before social media, it was harder to get first-hand information about reception halls, caterers and other service providers,” Miller says. But now, you can find online people who have actually used your potential vendors, and get the pros and cons of food quality, service, parking and a myriad of other important details that a website might gloss over. You can also tweet timely details of your planning progress, keeping your followers in the loop anytime, anywhere. “It can be like having a live, on-the-scene 48 Exquisite Bride | www.exquisitebride.net
reporter,” he says. In fact, some guests will tweet throughout the wedding day, as a way to share the events in real-time with absent friends and family. Pinterest can be a source of inspiration for poses, gowns, floral arrangements, china – pretty much anything visual. But Miller reminds future brides that not every vendor will mesh perfectly with your dreams (just imagine a techno DJ at a 50-something wedding reception!). It’s better to determine first what you like and then find someone who can provide it.
Social Media (cont’d.) But anyone who’s inadvertently killed a couple of hours browsing the web will agree – there are some downsides to this stuff. “When you hire a professional, you’re also hiring his or her creativity and expertise,” Miller says. “For example, most wedding photographers will capitalize on candid moments, or a distinctive setting. “Telling the pro to simply recreate what you found on Pinterest, or insisting on a rigid have shot list, means you won’t have a genuine record of your wedding. Giving some direction is okay; just don’t insist on duplication.”
Congratulations

“Think before you post” should be Rule Number One. We all know the tradition: the groom’s first glimpse of your gown occurs on your wedding day. Miller tells of a bride who lost that opportunity when an attendant posted a photo of the gown on Facebook. Guess who else saw it? It’s easy to get carried away with social media; it’s everywhere, and we use it all the time. But, like many other things, it’s wonderful – in small doses. Too much of it can help make your wedding day less than you expected.
