Poetry is often found in our relationship to the natural world, and in that which we canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t fully explain, but somehow know. I was at dinner with my family and a few friends, and afterwards, there was a huge, full “Strawberry Moon” in the night sky. Something came over me – it has a pale pink champagne type of glow, and I thought how rare this moment is – a place in time with people I love that will never come again, lit by a moon that was so incredibly special. And so are we. I wanted to somehow capture that feeling in a simple and iconic design… a crystalfaced moon pendant spinner, revealing the precious reminder, “Rare” on the other side. On my morning walks during a time when I felt particularly weak, I would say hello to the cactus blooms along the way, always inspired by the beauty that springs forth from such a seemingly inhospitable plant. Some days, the miracle of them kept me going.

How the blooms are protected by the cactus needlesâ&#x20AC;Ś how we can all soften in the lightâ&#x20AC;Ś so many mysteries held inside. Our hearts are not so different.

Our inner strength is made strong through connectedness, and out of that, beauty emerges. Expanding on our fascination with bees, their utmost importance to the balance of life, and the work they do, this collection came to life through the notion that the fabric of our existence is perhaps not so different from a honeycombâ&#x20AC;Ś a marvelous network of wonder, made possible by taking part in something larger. How miraculous, how worthy of our attention.

Perhaps the design that took the longest for us to create. The wings of this piece were fabricated by hand, twisting thin wire into rows to form the wings, then molded and cast. Bee Brave is meant to be a reminder of our inner strength through connectedness. Like bees, who work together to do so much, we are part of something larger. My daughter recently said this to me, and I think it is so wise: â&#x20AC;&#x153;We carry love, and love carries us.â&#x20AC;? How powerful to understand how we need love and that we have the power to freely give Love. It is the one thing we truly have in vast resource if we know how to access it, no matter what age or circumstance. Through my practice of designing amulets, I am reminded of this dynamic, and am always brought closer to this truth within myself: Love is usually, always, the answer.

“Life is but a dream” is one of those lines from a children’s song that always captivated me… “merrily, merrily” moving me towards an acceptance of the lightness of being. Motherhood brought this song back to me, and with it, a lot of magic. It inspired this small collection of little clouds, the kind from dreams that still remain. We were asked by many to reintroduce our Hero’s Cross this year… always one of my favorites, I was happy to oblige. Thinking back to when I made the waxes for this cross so many years ago… it felt familiar, like an amulet that was once mine in a former life. Cast in bronze, in its heavy oxy sterling setting, it becomes a sort of timeless treasure with a humble nobility that just works.

Because our silversmiths know who we are, and they enjoy working on our designs, we receive the gift of their care and craft in return. Thoughtful design is not just about what the piece means intrinsically, but also what it means to make. Giving our smiths the freedom to exercise their creativity gives them authorship as well. The impact of a design comes full circle when we learn from the process of working together â&#x20AC;&#x201C; how we are mutually responsible to each other, and how we can constantly look for new ways to do what is best for each other.

piece of jewelry takes. This design is a meditation on both. The shape and the outline, held together, in unison, held together in some sort of primitive way, but also here now. A sort of nomad in time.

A leaf is so spectacularâ&#x20AC;Ś a small piece of the larger natural world. This ring came about in the same sort of way one might expect a real leaf ring could (if we were out in the garden trying)â&#x20AC;Ś shapes and balance, choosing just the right proportions.
