Mature dating isn't something everyone pursues. A lot of people, men and women alike, want the thing they can't have. Which, unfortunately, often ends in disaster. The thing is, many people like to try for the unattainable, just because. Mature dating is the exact opposite. It's pursuing a relationship that can work, has a chance and is beneficial for everyone involved. Dating maturely is marrying someone with your goals, lifestyle and who isn't the age of your children. Keep reading to learn four things that aren't a part of mature dating. #1 Cheating on Someone Cheating hurts people, plain and simple. And it's the exact opposite of pursuing a mature relationship. Whether you're dating or married and involved with someone, you need to be committed to that person. If you're seeing someone, you've made a commitment to that person. If you're dating, break it off. If you're married, find a way to deal. You can't have a mature relationship if you're sneaking around seeing someone. A lot of people find this interesting and fun because of the thrill that they might get caught. It's only fun until you do. Then the person you're seeing gets hurt. And it's your fault. And no apology or excuse in the world makes it better. #2 Dating Someone Who's Married Obviously, if you don't know they're married, you're still culpable because you were dumb. Here, you're messing with someone else's commitment. It might seem like just a sheet of paper, but marriage is a lifetime contract between two people. If the person you're seeing is married, they're not going to choose you. It's easy to think they will. Not only is that mentality unhealthy for you, it's not mature. Find someone who's available. #3 Pretending to Be Someone You're Not When you're dating someone, it can be really easy to convince yourself that they'll like you, IF... That's a lie and really bad for a mature dating relationship. If they don't like you for who you are, what are you doing with that person? The thing with this is you'll get found out in the end. And then what they have is memories of someone who pretended to be a trustworthy person, a friend and a confidante. They can't trust you anymore and any hope of a mature relationship with that person is gone. And it's likely the people they know will find out, too. #4 Pretending to Want Something You Don't A lot of men and women will pursue someone just because it's unattainable. If it's someone who's in a relationship, they'll pursue that person just to get the couple to break up. They'll date for a couple of weeks and it will all be over. The person who was in the relationship is left with nothing.

And the person who broke them up is on to the next relationship. There are other things you can pretend, too. None of these are good for mature dating. However, they include: oWanting a commitment oWanting kids oWanting to get married If you're not interested in this level of dating, don't date. Wait until you grow up. Then, pursue someone who is interested in you and who you want a relationship with, who doesn't have any strings. Be yourself and don't lie about who you are and what you want. Relationships are hard enough without people who are in it just for the heck of it. If you don't want mature dating, you probably don't really want a relationship.
