TABLE OF CONTEnts Step 1: Buy a Skateboard Step 2: Just Cruise Around Step 3:Learn how to Ollie Step 4:Pop Step 5: Jump Step 6: Kick Step 7: Fail Step 8: Celebrate
Hey fellow skaters. My names Steez. I’ve committed my life to be a pro skateboarder and Im pretty stoked that you want to learn to kickflip. To be honest landing a kickflip is really freaking hard but I’m gonna try and make that easier for you. Get pumped.
2
STEP 1: Buy a Skateboard
The first step to landing a kickflip is having a board to kickflip! How are you gonna kickflip with no board silly? Find yourself a skateshop and waddle on over and buy that board. Please don’t buy a board from walmart, you’ll regret it. Make sure you have at least a couple hundred bucks in your oversized baggy pants cuz skateboards can be pricy.
This is what a sk8 shop looks like in case you forgot.
3
STEP 1:Continued
Get some grip tape. Maybe spice it up with a cool graphic
Get a deck. Make sure it’s your size. The bigger your feet are the bigger you’ll want your deck. Ask the sk8 shop owner for his recommendation.
Get some trucks. Again, make sure these fit your deck size.
Get some wheels. Get hard wheels if you wanna powerslide or get soft wheels if you wanna go fast. Or get dragon wheels if you wann do both.
Lastly get some bearings. This will make your wheels go brrrr.
4
One more thing before you make your decision. Make sure your deck looks really freaking dope. Don’t want to waste money on a deck that looks like a loser rides it.
Now get that sucker all screwed together. Most sk8 shop own ers will do that for you free of charge. Aren’t sk8 shop owners just the best?
5
This is probably one of the most important steps on your journey to landing a kickflip. Simply cruising around you get more and more comfortable with your board and comfort is key! If you can’t stand on your board for more then five seconds you’ll never be able to kickflip.
6
STEP 2: Cruise Around
Pop in some tunes to make the experience truly re markable. Music while skating is one of best things and will bless your life tremendously.
7
STEP 3
Learn how to Ollie
It’s probably a good idea to learn how to ollie before you leap right into trying to kickflip. It’s a basic fundamental trick that’s basically a kickflip minus the kick.
My homiest of homies Dude teach es the How to Ollie book which you can buy right now! Go. Go buy it.

STEP 4 Feet Placement
Now that you’re finally ready to kickflip the first thing to do is make sure you feet are placed correctly. You’re gonna want you’re leading foot to be slanted towards the nose of the board right behind the front screws, while your back foot should be placed comfortably in the pocket of the tail. This foot placement is crucial for the board to flip properly so don’t not do this.
9
STEP 5
POP!
Now that you know where to put your feet, it’s time to do that kickflip. The first step is to pop. Bend your knees and smash that back foot down into the tail to make the nose go upwards.
10
STEP 6 Jump
This ones pretty self explanatory, but just bend your knees and launch up to send yourself into an upward trajectory. Combine a jump into your pop so you stay on top of your board. The pop is essentially making the board go up with you as jump.
11
STEP 7 Kick
Now that you’re in the air slide your foot up the pocket on the side closest to you like the picture shows below. Your ankle should be slightly bended towards the nose as you go up and once you catch the pocket you flick by straightening your foot out.
Make sure and give that kick all you got and extend that leg. Don’t kick down or through the board but try and kick up the board and flick hard.
12
STEP 8 Fail
The first time you attempt a kickflip you will fail. It’s virtually impossible to land it first go, so get used to falling and messing up a lot. It’ll be frusterating but us skaters aren’t wimps. From my actual experience of learning how to kickflip once you know the prior steps all that remains is repitition. Practice, Practice Practice and eventually you’ll land one.
13
STEP 8: Land that Sucker and Celebrate!!!
Now after all that dedication and fruster ation you’ll find yourself landing your first ever kickflip. This is quite possibly the best feeling that you’ll ever feel in your lifetime. Your first succesfull kickflip will leave you speechless yet shouting for joy. You’ll be so so happy and excited. Definetely a core memory. All of that practice will have finally paid off and you’d have done a freaking kickflip. The coolest trick ever!!
