We Are Janday. We are committed to giving our customers only the best of what we have. Our goal is to help them get to the top of the competition by listening to their input and experiences. We value their contribution to the company and the products that we produce are most certainly inspired by what professionals need. Most importantly, we value the safety of all our customers. We pay attention to how we design our products so that professionals can be confident and self–assured in every situation. 3

4

Inspiration The main idea about focusing on the safety of clients came from a simple road hazard sign. These diagonal lines are one of the absolute essentials in keeping drivers safe on the road. Whether it be rain, snow, fleet, sunshine—they warn drivers of the hazards ahead. Janday wants to communicate a similar concept about keeping construction workers and professionals safe on their field. It is our aim to keep them safe by designing our products that would minimize all possible dangers of handling a power tool for hours. Focusing on safety will not hinder the efficiency of our power tools. We want our customers to find their confidence in our promises, in the efficiency, and the safety of our products. Safety is our priority.

Identity Development

6

Brief Summary During the beginning of the visual identity, we were required to produce a minimum of 5 examples from 6 categories: word marks, signette, logotypes, figurative marks, non figurative marks, and composite marks. It must work for print and digital applications. After the exploration process, we are to choose the top 3 designs, choose one of the 3, and then develop it further for the final. The original traits given to Janday were: trustworthy, energetic, and loyal in the beginning of the process.

Concepts

CMYK: 60/0/100/0 RGB: 114/191/68 Hex #: 71bf43 Pantone 360 C

The concept for this logo is to boost our clients in productivity. We are to place them ahead of the competition by giving them products that specialize in speed and precision. We are to be a helping hand in getting what needs to be done and to support them achieve their goals. The word mark’s visual elements are slanted in order to communicate speed and energy. The pointed serifs were designed to communicate dynamism as part of the identity. A shade of green is also used to represent productivity and progress in competition. 15

CMYK: 0/51/100/0 RGB: 247/146/30 Hex #: f7911d Pantone 715 C

The idea for this logo is the emphasis on building and assembling new technological innovations for power tools. Constant feedback by the customer is most valued by the company in order to know how power tools should be improved. In doing this, it fosters a community of professionals who are constantly connected to each other and the company. A screw is utilized to represent innovation and connectivity within the community. The shade of orange is utilized to communicate enthusiasm and optimism in innovation. 16

CMYK: 0/19/96/0 RGB: 255/206/26 Hex #: ffcd19 Pantone 123 C

Safety is the main priority of this concept. Instead of constantly and endlessly producing high quality power tools, this concept highly values what happens in the field. Janday believes that their clients’ confidence rest not only in the efficiency of the power tools but in the safety of it. From the start of the day to the end, Janday makes absolutely sure that their products are worthy of trust by professionals. The combination of a helmet and a cog is used to represent safety in the workplace. A bright shade of yellow is also used to make sure that all tools will be visible at all times. 17

Typeface Selection We only use 2 typefaces for our entire identity. We use the non condensed family of Futura Std for headings, subheadings, captions on products and applications. We also use the entire family of Caslon 3 LT Std only for our body text. Specifically, Futura Std Bold, Medium, and Book should be the first choice to be used in any applications. If the situation at hand requires more weights to be utilized, do so but it is to be used judiciously.
