REGISTRATION PROCEDURES • Registration will be accepted through the mail, in person, by fax or online on a first-come, first-served basis. NO PHONE IN REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Cost of activity must be paid in full when registering except when stated differently. Please follow registration procedures listed below.

Registration will be accepted at www.kentcountyrec.com using MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card. Online registration refunds must be processed through Kent County Parks and Recreation; allow up to 2 weeks for processing. All other refund policies apply.
Mail or Walk-in Registration
Payments may be made with cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Make checks payable to Kent County Parks & Recreation and mail or hand deliver to: 555 Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901. For your protection, please do not mail cash.. • Payments must be received by our office ONE WEEK BEFORE THE FIRST SCHEDULED CLASS OR BUS TRIP unless otherwise noted. • Requested receipts can be sent by email, office pickup or mailed (participant must provide us with a self-addressed stamped envelope). Participants can make the request on registration form. • Activity fees may be combined in one payment. Make sure form and payment are complete and correct. Please include phone numbers so we can contact you if there are program changes. • Completed form must accompany payment. Registration waiver must be signed. • Registration or entry may be denied into a program when it is deemed necessary to assure public safety. REFUND POLICY
Registration fees for recreation programs/activities must be paid in advance and shall be refunded in full to the payer of record if the County cancels the program/activity. If a participant cancels his/her participation in a program at least five (5) days prior to the first scheduled day, a full refund shall be paid less a $5 processing fee pursuant to County ordinance. Refunds will not be given for any other reason.

Failure to pick up your child on time may result in expulsion from the program. • A child may be expelled from a program with no refund after notifying parent of disciplinary problems. • The Department may photograph programs and participants for publicity purposes. • The Department has the right to adjust any of the program details in this brochure including fees, locations, instructors, times, days and starting dates. • It is the policy of the Kent County Parks and Recreation Department that all programs be accessible to all Qualified Handicapped Individuals as provided in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. TOT PROGRAMS TPREM11 - LITTLE CHAMPIONS MIXED MARTIAL ARTS – Ages 4 to 6. Premier Martial Arts, 321-B Independence Blvd., Dover (next to Greentree Shopping Center). Mondays, 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. beginning January 7 for 6 weeks. (No class 1/21.) Premier Martial Arts incorporates a combination of techniques found in four effective disciplines: Karate, Kickboxing, submission grappling and Kali to provide students with a realistic personal protection system for a modern world. Participants will be taught freestyle and backstroke, survival float, pushing off the side of the pool, and jumping into shallow water. Basic water safety and pool rules will be covered. Fee is $71. Two Sessions: TDSU11 - Level 1 Prerequisite - None TDSU21 - Level 2 Prerequisite - Enter water independently (using ladder, steps or side), submerge and blow bubbles, exit safely, glide on front for 2 body lengths and float on back for 3 seconds. TDSU31 - CHILD AND PARENT BEGINNER SWIMMING – Ages 1 to 4. Delaware State University’s Wellness & Recreation Center pool, 1200 N. DuPont Hwy., Dover. Tuesdays, 4:45 – 5:15 p.m. beginning January 22 for 5 weeks. These classes are to familiarize children with the water and prepare them to learn to swim in the American Red Cross preschool aquatics or learn-to-swim courses. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or to survive in the water on their own. Water skills will be taught through the use of games, songs, toys and flotation devices. (Parent must go in the water with child.) Fee is $71. (Bring a towel.) Minimum of 3, maximum of 10. Instructors: DSU staff. SOCCER00 - TOT INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE – Ages 4 to 6. All games and practices will be held at Smyrna Elementary School, Smyrna. Games will be played on Saturdays beginning January 26 for 6 weeks. The earliest game time will be 9:30 a.m. Participants will be placed on teams by Kent County Parks and Recreation (divided evenly by age). Brothers and sisters will be placed on the same team unless parents request in writing that they be separated. The first 2 weeks will be practice where players will be taught the basic skills and knowledge of soccer. Practices and games will be scheduled by KCPR. Fee is $46 (includes a T-shirt). (Background checks are required for all coaches and assistants and will be administered free of charge at the County Personnel Office.) SKATE11 - TOTS ON WHEELS – Ages 6 and under. Dover Skating Center. Tuesdays, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. and Wednesdays, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. beginning January 8. A punch card will allow you to attend any 5 sessions of open skating during a 6-week period. With limited instruction, tots can learn the basics of roller skating in a fun-filled environment. Parents are welcome to watch while your tot rolls along. Fee is $21 and includes skate rental, games and a treat! No minimum. Instructors: Dover Skating Center staff. SKATING FOR TOTS – Ages 3 to 6. Dover Skating Center. Saturdays, 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. for 4 weeks. Skating is a sport that can provide a lifetime of enjoyment both physically and socially. Toddlers will learn forward skating, marching, scissors, 2-foot jump, squat skate, and the hokey pokey in an atmosphere filled with music. Fee is $31 and includes use of skates. YOUTH PROGRAMS CO-ED JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE – Location TBA. Three age divisions: 7 to 10, 11 to 13 and 14 to 18. The Junior Volleyball League will be offering its sixteenth season of co-ed volleyball. The JVL is known for bringing quality, coaching, and fun competition to volleyball. The 7-to-10 year olds’ division will hold practices and games on Wednesday and Friday evenings. The 11-to-13 and 14-to-18-year olds’ divisions will hold practices on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings and play games on Friday evenings. The 8-week season begins January 8 and will include practice sessions and 6 games. Knee pads are required for all players. Fee is $52 and includes a team T-shirt. Designed by the experts at MIT, this unique system teaches children about simple machines, engineering, programming, and more. Two Sessions: YDSU11 - Level 1 Prerequisite: Glide 2 body lengths, roll from front/back, float on front/back for 5 seconds, bob 3 times, and swim using combined arm and leg action for 3 body lengths. YDSU21 - Level 2 Prerequisite: Step from side into chest-deep water, roll from front/back, float on front/back for 5 to 15 seconds, return to a vertical position, swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths. YOUTH INTERMEDIATE SWIMMING – Ages 6 to 14. Delaware State University’s Wellness & Recreation Center pool, 1200 N. DuPont Hwy., Dover. Tuesdays, 7:00 – 7:30 p.m. beginning January 22 for 5 weeks. These classes are to build on the skills learned in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice in deeper water and to develop confidence in the strokes learned in Level 3. Participants will improve on other aquatic skills. Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke will be refined. Sidestroke and butterfly will be introduced and developed. Emphasis will be placed on stroke refinement to improve efficiency, power and smoothness for endurance swimming. (Bring a towel.) Fee is $71. Minimum of 3, maximum of 10. Instructors: DSU staff. Two Sessions: YDSU31 – Level 3 Prerequisite: Jump into deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards. YDSU41 – Level 4 Prerequiste: Perform a feet-first entry into deep water, swim front crawl and elementary backstroke for 25 yards, swim breaststroke for 15 yards, and change direction and position as necessary.

These classes are based on the teachings of Scott Cole, the founder of Get Fit for America for Kids, which challenges young minds and bodies to get fit inside and out by blending the non-violent art of tai chi with the balance of yoga. This multimedia fitness program incorporates nature-related games, and an array of physical activities including cardio, conditioning and flexibility exercises. Fee is $51. FLOWER11 - PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW – Tuesday, March 5. Pennsylvania Convention Center. In 2013, the PHS Philadelphia International Flower Show prepares for a British Invasion as the culture and horticulture of the United Kingdom takes center stage. Receive the royal treatment as you explore great gardens and learn from the world’s most celebrated growers and designers. NEW YORK CITY (MIDTOWN MANHATTAN) – Take a trip with us to the city that never sleeps. General Park Use Procedures
• Kent County does not issue permits for private exclusive use of pavilions. All pavilions can be used by the general public and can not be roped off, covered, decorated, etc. in advance of your intended use. Patrons can not deny the use of pavilion tables if not immediately occupied. Seating is limited. • Sports fields may be rented for exclusive private use. Permits can be obtained through the Parks and Recreation Office. Permits can not be issued inside of 15 days and outside of three months. Fee and security deposit apply. • Kent County provides pet waste bags at each of its parks. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pet(s) and removing waste from the park. • Kent County Parks are carry-in, carry-out facilities. Patrons are responsible for removing their trash when they leave the park. Small trash bags are available at each park for your convenience. For specific park rules and use procedures, please call the Parks and Recreation Office.
