MOBILE FIRST
TREND 2: MOBILE FIRST
A Mobile first approach to web design helps eliminate the excess and keep only what’s essential.
TREND 2: MOBILE FIRST
• With almost 87% of the world’s population having access to some kind of mobile device and 31% of the US population using mobile devices as the primary way they access the web, mobile is an opportunity to reach more people than ever. •
Mobile devices have constraints that force designers to focus on what really matters, providing an opportunity to evaluate the essential ingredients, and encouraging ease-of use and intuitiveness.
•
Designing on small screens first helps defines necessary functionality and how to deliver it to creates a superior mobile experience, progressive enhancement also can enhance by taking advantage of computing horsepower and device size as the experience scales to desktop and beyond.

LESS IS MORE
TREND 7: LESS IS MORE
Originally stated in an 1855 poem called “The Faultless Painter by Andrea del Sarto and Adopted by the Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe as a way to define minimalist design. The key concept of minimalism is reducing the subject to its necessary elements creating a design unity and simplicity of form and function.
Today with all the different devices that people use to access the internet including smart phones, tablets, gaming counsels, and TVs there is a greater need than ever to make experiences that seamlessly adjust for what ever device is requesting information. Simple web design uses white space and page structure to guide the way people access and interact with web pages, removing clutter and establishing focus for the task at hand. Simplicity does not mean generic.
