Fall Into Fun With Jersey Family Fun Fall Fun Guide 2013
Letter from the Editor Letter from the editor, it feels so surreal to write that and to be sitting here putting the final touches on our first guide. I can still remember how Jersey Family Fun started as just a little page on Facebook where I used to share family events happening in our community. Now, inspired by these 3 boys, blessed with a wonderful team of mom writers, and supported by all of you, we have grown beyond what I could ever have imagined and are preparing for our 3rd Birthday. I am so excited for the plans we have for the future. In the pages of this guide you will find ads from businesses who value what we do and support our growth. It would mean so much to us if you would show them your support and thank them for supporting us. Without further ado, we present to you our first Fall Fun Guide, may it inspire you to have more fun than ever with your kids this fall in our home state of New Jersey. Corn Maze Scavenger Hunt On your visit to a corn maze this month see if you can complete these tasks. Count how many times you turn left before finding your way out. Bury someone with you in hay. Have 2 animals race. Find one interesting fact about the corn maze shape. Take your picture with a prop. Find a pumpkin that isn’t orange. Post a photo of you at the corn maze on Jersey Family Fun’s Facebook page. Count how many different insects you find. Learn the name of one of the animals. Ask the farmer something about visitors to the maze. Find a piece of corn that fell off the stalk. Sing Old McDonald while walking through the maze. Shake hands with someone wearing a uniform. Tell 2 people about Jersey Family Fun. Bring home a great memory.

How to prepare for your Family Photo Session As a photographer I am always asked by my clients how to best prepare for their portrait sessions. What’s the best location? What should my family wear etc? I always advise my clients that there is no right answer to this question. What’s best for you is to think about is what your family’s style. If you are an active type of family and love to play sports then that’s how you want to plan for your session. However, if you want images that are natural and depict the full glory and colors of the season then you should plan for that as well. I ALWAYS advise my clients that they should never wait until fall actually arrives to book their session. You always want to plan ahead for these event because you cannot always know when inclement weather or an illness may occur. And always come prepared with at least 2-3 available dates for your photographer because he or she may be booked on your first desired date. Plus there’s the ever popular what to wear question. Should I match or not? Do I wear solids or patterns? There are so many variables to consider. And as a mom who has a daughter that wanted nothing more than to wear pink princess rain boots for an entire year (and yes I let her!) here’s my advice. • • •
Let kids wear one of their favorite things. They will only be 4 once. Don’t put the ‘good shirts’ on them till you arrive at your location just in case you they spill juice on get food on it during the car ride. Remember these are family portraits. It’s a day that you come together as a family to create memories and have a lot of joy and fun.

The Halloween Tree - I grew up watching this movie every year near Halloween and it's kind of a tradition. I like that it's a little scary for adults to enjoy but still kid friendly. ~Melissa G. Animaniacs: Spooky Stuff - Husband and I are HUGE fans. Parodies, songs, slapstick. . ~ Diane The Nightmare Before Christmas- quirky. I love how it integrates the yearend holidays. . ~ Diane Hocus Pocus – It’s not cartoony and is great for the 8 & up crowd. It’s one of our go to movies every Halloween. It keeps them laughing the whole time. ~ Crystal R. The Addams Family - Sarcasm at its best. My kids love the saddistic comedy. . ~ Diane Young Frankenstein - another classic. Such a zany spoof! Very entertaining. . ~ Diane
