Jersey Finance Limited, which is run as a not-for-profit organisation, was formed in 2001 to represent and promote Jersey as an International Finance Centre of excellence. It is funded by members of the local finance industry and the States of Jersey Government.

The central point of contact for journalists and anyone connected with the finance industry, both locally and internationally, as a source of comment, industry news and information.

It provides tools and resources that create opportunities for Jersey’s finance industry professionals to successfully promote their individual organisations, products and services.

It actively represents the finance industry’s needs and concerns with regards to legislation, regulation and other key areas of innovation that can enhance our jurisdictional product offering.

The role of Jersey Finance Prior to the formation of Jersey Finance in 2001, there was little active or co-ordinated promotion of the jurisdiction. With no planned and sustained media campaign and no formal representation, the lack of Jersey’s visibility on the international stage was enabling the aggressive marketing initiatives of our competitors to diminish Jersey’s competitiveness. Individual firms conducted their own marketing activity, but in an increasingly jurisdictionally agnostic marketplace, larger organisations had little reason to focus marketing effort on Jersey.

Jersey Finance was established with a number of objectives:

To facilitate industry views and requirements to Government and the regulator.

In a globally competitive marketplace, Jersey stands stronger if it has a united finance industry and open communication channels between industry, Government and the regulator.

The role of Jersey Finance Vision For Jersey to be demonstrably recognised as the leading International Finance Centre in its chosen markets.

Mission To champion and develop the competitive position of Jersey’s financial services industry through the promotion and innovation of its services and products in targeted markets, while maintaining strong and sustainable stakeholder relationships with industry, Government and the regulator.

Development Global recognition Jersey Finance has dedicated resource to help grow market share in the mature markets and capture upside opportunity in the developing markets. This is achieved cost effectively by promoting Jersey through a combination of in region presence and a ‘fly-in’ strategy.

Build relationships Jersey Finance uses state of the art Customer Relationship Management systems to create a library of key intermediaries. This is then leveraged to get Jersey’s proposition and news to the most appropriate regional people to achieve the greatest value for Jersey.

Jersey Finance has an evidence-based advocacy program to factually demonstrate the benefit of Jersey, the most recent of which is the Value of Jersey to Britain report.

7 CONSULTATION RESPONSES SUBMITTED IN 2013

Jersey Finance helps co-ordinate the consultation process for proposed legislation and regulation affecting Jersey’s finance industry, between the Government, the regulator and industry. This helps ensure resourse is dedicated to the most critical issues.

By co-ordinating inter-department and agency actions, as well as forming working groups across the Government, the regulator and industry, Jersey Finance helps develop new and competitive financial service products.
