Ephemeral Pavilion

A pavilion of ephemeral architecture for outdoor reading was designed. The pavilion was inspired from a seashell, not the complete figure, but a part of it. The reflected shell gives it symmetry and harmony. This shell has golden ratios which help integrate all parts of the design while keeping it symmetrical. At the same time, the structure, being symmetrical, supports itself; it assimilates two cards leaning on themselves. Given the aspect that it does not need external forces to support itself, it gives it the flexibility of being easily transported and gives it the appearance of ephemeral architecture. A shell also assimilates the sea which can be a place of relaxation.

Section B-B’

Photoshop was used to interpret the pavilion into the intended area of use.

Han drawn perspectives were made, and technical drawing were used to express the design of the pavilion and its use.
