Verizon’s original logo was created in 2000, and has not changed since that time. The goal of the logo was to display a sense of speed. The name Verizon came from the two words veritas - the Latin word for certainty and reliability - and horizon, signifying a forward-thinking visionary. While the original logo has certainly become recognizable worldwide, it is apparent that the logo does not entirely represent what Verizon stands for and strives to be. As the company changes and grows, it is necessary to have a logo that is more representative of its goals. From the beginning of the rebranding process, there are five words which have guided the decisions made. These five words are forward-looking, visionary, certainty, reliability, and speed. Nothing has changed since 2000 in regard to the vision of Verizon. The brand has merely been shifted to more effectively represent this vision in a more focused way.

LOGO USAGE Do not attempt to alter the Verizon logo in any way, other than the acceptable ways laid out in this style guide. Do not animate, color, rotate, skew, or apply color effects to the logo. MARGINS AND PROPORTIONS Specific clear space and minimum-size requirements have been established to allow the Verizon logo to be placed properly. By adhering to these clear space, height, and minimum-size requirements it ensures the logo is always used consistently and correctly. When resizing, the logo should ONLY be proportionally scaled larger or smaller, and NEVER stretched, skewed, cropped or clipped.

These “signal rings” can be used as supplementary graphics or textures. When using in combination with photography or heavy text, only use a solid colored signal ring, and lower the opacity to 15-30% so that it does not become overwhelming or distracting. Only use the full colored signal ring against a light, solid background with minimal text, images and other content.
