PUBLISHER’S OPINION

Olawale Idreez, Publisher

My Dream Sky-Jet named “Ambition” Wow! We made it. With all the havocs, mother nature calamities in different part of the world, political unrests particularly in the middle-east, human negativism, unnecessary attack and killings due to political egoism, or religion extremism, missiles small and large buttons about to be pushed by two strong-headed World Leaders, and so many other -isms we cannot even fathom or comprehend they happened, or why they exist; but to be thankful that we escaped them all. You know, to show gratitude to my Creator, I actually enveloped money/offerings to His address. The Mail Person returned the envelop, I thought perhaps the offering was too small. So, I increased it, and mailed it again. It was returned. Ladies and Gentlemen, you will never guess what the envelop said this time. It said, "Heaven is My Throne. Earth is My Footstool. What house may you build Me? Or What is My Place of rest? Are not all these made by My Hands? You stiffed-neck, dummy......" (Writer's humble emphasis, not meant for jesting recklessly). Forgive me, O LORD! But the point is, some people think the way to please the Almighty God is only when you can write big, fat checks; albeit that's alright, if you can afford it. I strongly believe He (Our Awesome God) delights more in praises and worship, with all you have got. When you attend House of Worship, and see Believers throwing their arms in the air (like you don't care about who is watching, albeit the Angelic Hosts are watching and rejoicing, too); you know God delights more in that kind of worship; than going there, and acting like President Trump, and North Korean Leaders are about to press that small and bigger buttons to end this cruel but amazing planet earth. Praise Him! Now, I can faithfully drink my usual extra-large DDC (Dunkin Donut Coffee) on the north side of Chicago neighborhood, to show I'm not holding grudges against people or subscribers who did not advertise or subscribe to your/our online international publication, Africa-USA Today Magazine. This is your opportunity to advertise, or follow us on social media outlets (LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter@ Africa-USA Today Magazine). Lest I forget, thank God for the geniuses that invented all these social media apps, and devices. I am very appreciative of the fact that, the population of the planet earth is around 7.1 billions (with nine zeros); and everyone that has access to the mobile phone, or desk top computers can google the magazine at (www.issuu.com/jesmithphoto). Unbelievable! *Olawale Idreez is the author of "If the U.S. Constitutions allowed any candidate to vie for more than two terms in the White House, this Obama Presidency will occupy the Oval Office for four consecutive terms (2009 excerpt); he is also the co-author of the "The Consequences of Non-Intervention in the American Civil War by the European Powers". Distributed by Amazon.com; Xlibris.com, etc ($15.99 per copy). Thank you for supporting our humble vision .........for without you, there is no us. Respectfully, LinkedIn@Olawale Idreez Publisher @ Africa-USA Today Magazine. Email: usafriglo@yahoo.com

World Economic Forum

Our Mission The World Economic Forum The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. It was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests. The Forum strives in all its efforts to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. Moral and intellectual integrity is at the heart of everything it does. Our activities are shaped by a unique institutional culture founded on the stakeholder theory, which asserts that an organization is accountable to all parts of society. The institution carefully blends and balances the best of many kinds of organizations, from both the public and private sectors, international organizations and academic institutions. We believe that progress happens by bringing together people from all walks of life who have the drive and the influence to make positive change. 18 AFRICA USA TODAY

How do we do our work? At meetings The Forum does not organize conferences. We believe in more fluid, longer-term interaction. That’s why we hold meetings – to give each participant as much context and opportunity for engagement as possible over the long term. We also aim to ensure the impact of our efforts, with each meeting delivering clear outcomes and action points. The Forum holds four major annual meetings: 1. The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, shapes global, regional and industry agendas at the beginning of the calendar year. 2. The Annual Meeting of the New Champions, the Forum’s annual meeting on innovation, science and technology, is held in the People’s Republic of China. 3. The Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils, held in the United Arab Emirates, brings together the world’s leading knowledge community to share insights on the major challenges facing the world today. 4. The Industry Strategy Meeting brings together Industry Strategy Officers to shape industry agendas and explore how industries can shift from managing change to pioneering change. In addition, regional meetings and national strategy days provide focused engagement on the issues dominating regional and local agendas. An ongoing programme of workshops, seminars and meetings on issues relevant to each engagement provides opportunities to further drive purpose and action.

Through insights All of our interactions are fuelled by insights that are both broad and deep. To support our role in setting priorities and connecting decision-makers, the Forum has built worldclass research capabilities, producing cutting-edge data on some of the world’s most significant issues, including: – Competitiveness – Gender Parity – Global Information Technology

World Economic Forum

What are our key areas of focus? As assumptions about growth models are overturned, the international balance of power continues to fray, and scientific and technological breakthroughs promise to transform economies and societies, the unique platform provided by the Forum helps leaders from all walks to life to prepare for exponentially disruptive change. Today, we focus on three key strategic challenges:

20 AFRICA USA TODAY

World Economic Forum

Why does our work matter? Our world is an interconnected system straining under the burden of its own complexity. We see numerous factors combining to make the global environment more unpredictable and difficult to navigate. In global governance, we see the post-war balance between nation states and the institutional framework that worked to manage it disintegrating. In its place, we see the emergence of new geoeconomic competition, new regionalism and new actors. Meanwhile, technological change is disrupting our economies and changing the nature of our globalized world in ways that are both unpredictable and complex. We will witness more technological change over the next decade than we have seen in the past 50 years. Advances in all the sciences – from robotics and genetics to communications and the social sciences – will leave no aspect of global society untouched. Around the world, a young generation is demanding to be heard. Young people increasingly see decisions being made at the expense of their future. Each of these factors and many others require a new kind of institution – one with the adaptability, the entrepreneurialism and the trust of all stakeholders – that can bring together people who have the power to make change, to achieve mutual understanding and empathy, to come to common agreement and, where appropriate, push action forward. As an international organization with no commercial interest, the Forum provides a platform for leaders from all stakeholder groups from around the world – business, government and civil society – to come together.
