museum as soc iation Exhibit Unite are to collaborate with the Museum Association to make certain that we are delivering the best service we can. The Museum Association and Exhibit Unite’s values are very similar, especially as they are very much interested in helping museums achieve their full potential.
Who are the museum association? The Museum Association is the oldest museum association in the world, set up in 1889 to guard the interests of museums and galleries. They are independently funded by their membership, which is made up of museum professionals, institutions and corporate members.
In 2012 the Museum Association launched a nationwide discussion, inviting people in museums, funders, policy-makers and other stakeholders to think afresh about the role of museums. Museums 2020 is the Museums Association’s initiative to create a bold vision for UK museums and their impact – the difference museums can have on individuals, communities, society and the environment. One of the conclusions that their work came to was that museums do not always do enough to think long-term. The process of developing Museums 2020 will help them to do just that, providing inspiration and ideas for museums to help their thinking and planning and help them achieve their full potential for society.

p r ess re lea se exhibit unite Exhibit Unite: Representing National Museums and Galleries. A website that is a dynamic source of information of all museums and galleries across the UK. A website to be launched on April 18th 2014: www.exhibitunite.co.uk Exhibit Unite is an independent organisation specialising in the promotion of museums and galleries across the UK. We are an organisation with a difference and our aim is to enhance the value of museums and galleries to society by sharing the knowledge, inspiring innovation and guard the interests of museums and galleries. Museums and galleries have not been immune from the impacts of the recession, but are still delivering impressive economic benefits thanks to increased tourism in the UK and an evergrowing public appetite for culture. Between March and September 2009 one in four museums saw public funding levels drop and 7% of museums have already cancelled a programme or event, and many were reconsidering their future plans. Further financial support for museums and galleries will be needed in the future to ensure this economic growth continues apace. They need to find an effective approach to promoting that isn’t expensive but will still draw people through their doors. By providing your details on our website users will receive our monthly newsletter and as a reward they will receive a voucher to any museums or gallery with Exhibit Unite - offering a discount on admission. Spread the word. We do.
