[towards neighbourhood cohesion] WANCHAI OPEN SPACE
NI Lab | Research | Government funded Roles - data collection, writer
A comprehensive research was undertaken on the usage and conditions of open spaces in Wan Chai, the least open space per person ratio amongst all 18 districts of Hong Kong.
I was involved in a series of street interviews, ideation workshop and finalising a report on how to improve the quality of life for its residents and users, and cultivate an inclusive and harmonious relationships in the diverse neighborhood.

ALKF+ | Healthcare | Stages - Design, Tender Roles - revit modelling, detailed design
Upon joining a new team, I participted in the tender stage in submitting a detailed proposal of this 52540m2 hospital service centre, designed to serve as a comprehensive facility for laundry, food production, and data center purposes.
During this time, I quickly acquired proficiency in Revit by assisting in the set-up and creation of Revit families. Notably, developing various curtain wall families, aimed at simplifying design modification and allow added time for rendering.

PRIMARY SCHOOL TSEUN WAN
ALKF+ | Educational | Stages - Design, Tender Roles - sketchup modelling, tender package
As one of the pioneering educational projects of Hong Kong to adopt the Modular Integrated Construction (MIC) method. I assisted in the key stages of developing feasibility study, design proposals and produced tender packages for submission.

REFURBISMENT OF HONG KONG MUSEUM OF COASTAL DEFENCE
ALKF+ | Interior | Stages - Design, Concept Roles - detailed design, presentation, AutoCAD
I was appointed to lead the refurbishment project of a coastal defence fort converted museum. I was able to adjust to the role, organising presentation and maintained open communication with my team and clients for successful outcome.
A new double-height atrium space, new wayfinding elements, and color-coded gallery layout is introduced to create a dramatic and inspiring experience that captivates visitors from the moment they enter the fort.

CHOI YUEN ROAD SITES 3 & 4
ALKF+ | Residential | Stages - Tender Roles - AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rendering, CD
Choi Yuen Road is a residential development on top of a 3-storey podium. The design involves Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) of single-flat modules to be constructed off-site taking consideration of standardised design and efficiency.
I was delegated tasks of designing the podium gardens, lobby area, adopting passive design and energy saving consideration on the layout, orientation, and extended provision of greenery at podiums.

THE
DESK - COWORKING
Cocoon Architecture | Interior | Stages - Tender
Role - presentation drawings, tender package
The Desk is a tenamant building transformed coworking space in Sai Ying Pun of Hong Kong. The completion of the interior retrofitting introduced natural light into the lobby, which was previously an enclosed as a retail unit.
My responsibility was to consolidate the design concept and produce AutoCAD drawings of the renovated coworking space for tender and award submissions.
The project has been awarded : Merit in the DFA Design for Asia Awards

VILLA TINGKAUCocoon Architecture | Residential | Stages - Design Role - design, render, illustrations
The villa is for a single-family house along the seafront of Ting Kau, where the landscape is defined by shingle beaches formed by powerful waves. Inspired by this rugged terrain, the villa is imagined as a massive rock with its spaces intricately ‘carved out’ by the dynamic forces of waves and tides.
I assisted in developing the model using both SketchUp and Rhino, and created graphics with Illustrator and Photostop to illustrate the various transitional spaces of the unit, which were designed with consideration of user movements and to create a tranquil journey from the outside world.

WATER AS YIN, GREEN AS YANG [水陰 . 綠陽]
Cocoon Architecture | Pavilion | Stages - Design
Role - concept, layout, rendering, model-making
The competition calls for a pavilion within Qianhai Park of Shenzhen, China. The design features a pool and viewing platform with green roof, is inspired by traditional wisdom of ‘Yin and Yang’. With ‘Yin’ as water, and ‘Yang’ as green, the pavilion celebrates the two elements and complements the surrounding landscape.
The facade will be composed of a module symbolizing ‘unity’, with reflective panels on one end, perforated panels for planting on the other.
The project has been awarded : Honarable Mentions in the Qianhai 2020 Award

FROM WASTE TO VALUE: WEAVING NETTLE’S PATH
Individual Work | Industrial | Design North Shields, U.K.
The project explores how to transform the underutilized Nettles (Urtica dioica) within the future process of rope making as the solution to the yearly 640,000 tonnes of fishing tools lost at sea.
The scheme proposes a prototype of industrial and educational facility in North Shields, supplying nettle ropes to the adjacent North Shields Fish Quay and recycling used rope after it loses tensile strength.
[Nettle as low impact resource]
The nettle is a promising alternative for sustainable ropemaking. with ready available resources up to 179,000,000 hectares. They grow in low quiality soil that is often unsuitable for other crops, yet are known toreduce heavy metal content within soil.
Cradle to cradle proposal Cradle to grave existingRejuvenate the traditional art of ropemaking
[Cradle to cradle approach]
Utilizing nettles as the primary resource for ropemaking, this proposal rejuvenate the craft of rope making with modern technology, crafting durable ropes and nets that serve the needs of industrial fishing. The proposed facility would also extend the lifespan of the ropes once they lose tensile strength by recycling them for furniture.
The prototype would push forward nettle ropes for the fishing industry and ultimately expand to ports with densed distribution of nettle, contributing to a sustainable fishing tool and seafood supply chain.

[museum expansion with polycarbonate] BUILDING UPON BUILDING
Individual Work | Museum | Design Boston, U.S.
The studio ‘Building upon Building’ looked at Norman Foster’s vision on preservation and longeivity with the aim of developing our own proposal of building upon an existing Foster’s building.
The proposed 2040 expansion extends Foster’s vision of the Museum of Fine Arts as ‘the heart’ of the city and transforms the heavy granite building into a well-lit, semi-public art institution. The addition will realise green corridors and art corridors that connects to the everyday life of Boston citizens and complements the famous Back Bay Fen landscape adjacent to the museum.

PHASE I
First phase of Lowell’s masterplan consisted of the South Wing
PHASE II
The opening of the North Wing completes Guy Lowell’s original masterplan
Museum extension of the East Wing by Hugh Stubbins following Guy Lowell original plan
[MFA evolution and connectivity]
There have been multiple extensions and vast change on the circulation of the museum over the years. This include two phases by Guy Lowell, Hugh Stubbins in 1966, and IM Pei in 1981 which included its own entrance on the West that greatly altered the circulation of what Lowell originally planned.
Against this background, Foster’s approach to the problem was the restatement of the logic of its Beaux-Arts plan where he restored the grand northsouth axis and re-establish the importance of the two main entrances.
