Color studies HEART AND SOUL Tis final color palette effortlessly combines the rich neutrals of Raw Ink with the bright, happy primary colors of Recorded Primaries creating an excellent base for the brand.

On site Analysis

On-site Analysis Lexington, KY

On site Analysis: POPS Resale About POPS Resale is a family owned store in Lexington, KY. Their stock contains vintage “Previously Owned Products, which includes records, clothings, game systems, and many other products.

Mission Statement We opened in May of 1996. The goal was to sell nothing but Previously Owned Products, hence the POPS. This would be an opportunity to offer high quality used goods at reasonable prices- an excellent alternative to overpriced and over-hyped crap foisted on the American public these days. The mix changes regularly so that we can supply our customers with what they want and need. But the emphasis is always on our customers. We believe in giving the maximum value for every dollar you spend. It is our philosophy that if we offer great deals, people will keep coming back. It's been working well so far. Our philosophy on life is not dissimilar. Treat people as you would like to be treated and it will return to you many times.

On site Analysis: POPS Resale Targeted Age Group: They target the young, hip crowd who appreciate the clothing and music of the past.

What Stands Out? As soon as you walk in the users observes what can only be termed as a record playing and record inspection station for the employees to the left. It doesn’t really evoke a positive or negative response, but rather it piques the interest of the customer.

On site Analysis: POPS Resale Overall Store Image and Personality POPS stands for “Previously Owned Products and therefore their store is basically a celebration of the vintage and retro finds that the store is so famous for. The decor and design of the store is determined by the variety of products that they have. The store sells records, record players, vintage clothing and accessories, as well as game systems. It has the classic checkerboard flooring and records decorating the walls giving it the vintage feel.

On site Analysis: POPS Resale Back room

Store Layout: The store is fairly confusing the first time you enter. It is very long and narrow and there are many ways to navigate it. The traffic has been controlled by long, narrow paths between clothing racks and records.

On site Analysis: POPS Resale Initial Customer Reaction POPS appears to be going for a sense of curiosity for their customers. For instance, there is exterior signage, but the windows have a mirrored tint to them, so you cannot see what is inside. They also do not have any window displays. So, based on what you initially see and feel a curious customer would be prone to entering the store.

Lighting The lighting is the classic drop ceiling lighting. There is no lighting highlighting anything until you reach the clothing in the back. Even the the lighting is just a little brighter than in the front.

On site Analysis: POPS Resale Signage Any signage that is in the store is handwritten and not very effective.

Security Security in this store is limited. There are some glass cases that are locked, but besides that security is left up to the employees walking around the store.

Focal Points Focal points have been created on the wall by displaying many colorful album covers. The merchandise is not really displayed in any special way.

On site Analysis: POPS Resale Fixturing Components The records (besides those displayed on the wall) are in the long, classic record runs. The clothing is also on standard clothing racks.

Conclusion POPS Resale is a store for young, hip crowd of today who are interested in the clothing, music, and pretty much everything from the past. It provides a space for the new generation to appreciate what it was like to live in the 1970’s and 1980’s. I believe that for this project circulation within the store will be improved upon immensely. This project will also explore branching out into additional age groups to further foster community.
