PENNY SQUISHING

Magic KingdoM and mickey If I can remember correctly, this is one of the first pennies I ever pressed. I’ve visited Disney World twice, and this was a result of the first trip. Of course, I was interested in both Mickey and soccer as a kid, so this penny was only fitting!

NBA CITY “LOGO MAN”
Universal Studios is one of the best memories I have of Orlando. It wasn’t limited to only rides; it had many attractions and shopping areas too. One in particular was NBA City, where I pressed the “Logo Man” penny.

Main sT. pier
While we were in Daytona, my family decided to stop by Daytona Beach for a little while. I remember eating at a restaurant on the Main Street Pier, and then pressing this dolphin penny shortly after. Sadly, I don’t think the penny machine is there anymore.

Ponce inlet lighthouse This is a penny I pressed at the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse in Florida. It’s a long name for a lighthouse, and it’s also a long way to the top. My family and I climbed the hundreds of stairs to reach the highest point. I remember feeling like the stairs would never end, but it’s still a great memory.

fao schwarz
I pressed this penny on my first trip to Florida. Back when I was younger, there was another FAO Schwarz in Orlando (besides the famous one in New York). Although I don’t completely remember what the store looked like, I definitely remember stopping there and looking inside. If you can’t tell by the photo, FAO Schwarz is a toy store. I think that both stores have closed down since then.

zoo The Louisville Zoo is one of my biggest memories as a child. The first house my family and I ever lived in was right down the street from it. The Zoo is also a great place for penny squishing in Louisville. It has at least 4 working machines throughout the entire park! So it’s not surprising that the Zoo is the location that I’ve collected the most souvenir pennies from.

Diamond caverns Around the time I was in middle school, my mom took my sister and I down to Cave City. It was just a getaway for a few days, but it was very fun. Taking a tour of Diamond Caverns was one of the things we did together. I remember this as being one of the most beautiful caves I’ve ever seen. Thankfully, they also had a penny machine near the gift shop!

I love you atlanta Although I love this penny and its design, I did not press it myself. In fact, I’ve never pressed a penny in Atlanta. But my older sister, Lindsey, took a trip there once, and brought back this penny for me (she knew that my younger sister, Jaclyn, and I loved collecting them).

newport aquarium Newport Aquarium is a place that I have been a few times now. It’s definitely fun to see all of the different types of aquatic animals, but one of the best parts about it is the gift shop at the end.
(But seriously, who wouldn’t want a squished penny of a turtle?)

Big Mike’s Rock shop I pressed this penny on the trip to Cave City with my mom and sister. We decided to stop at a large rock shop because it had tons of souvenirs (not to mention, rocks). This gift shop also had a superweird Mystery House right next to it, and we couldn’t resist going through it.

Paramount’s Kings island scooby doo
I went on a trip with my family to King’s Island when I was younger. I remember riding the Spooky Scooby Doo Coaster with my parents (Scooby Doo was one of my favorite characters growing up). Kings Island is formerly known as Paramount’s Kings Island, and it still had that title on my first trip there.

Frazier Historical arms museum Honestly, I don’t remember pressing the Frazier Museum penny. I’m not even sure when I pressed it, because I’ve been to this museum a few times now. It most likely came from a field trip. But it still looks pretty fancy and official-like.

Disney mgm studios The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror has got to be the best ride I’ve ever ridden...or at least the one I’ll always remember the most. Growing up, I was always scared to ride anything, so it was amazing that I had the guts to get on this. MGM Studios was a very fun amusement park, and I’m glad a penny was pressed there.

dinousaur world Dinosaur World is located in Cave City. I’ve always been interested in dinosaurs, so this adventure park was very fun for me. My favorite part was the walking trail in which you see many statues of different types of dinosaurs (some are even actual size!) The penny on the left is an image of a Velociraptor, and on the right is a Brachiosaurus.

Newport on the levee Newport on the Levee is basically a shopping area, aquarium, movie theater and restaurant area in one. I’ve only been to this area whenever I’ve gone to Newport Aquarium. It’s such a nice place to be though; you can look across the river and see downtown Cincinnati.

Louisville Science center This is one of my most recent pressed pennies. I added in to my collection in 2014 at Thunder Over Louisville (which is a major fireworks show that Louisville hosts every spring). While we were waiting for the fireworks, my sister, Jackie, and I were walking around and stumbled upon the Louisville Science Center. Naturally, we decided to go in and look around for a little while. To my surprise, they had a penny machine right in the lobby, and I obviously had to squish a penny!
