THIS PORTFOLIO SHOWCASES THE DEVELOPMENT AND E D U C AT I O N O F A N A S P I R I N G INTERIOR DESIGNER, WITH S T R O N G U S A G E O F I L L U S T R AT I O N AND GRAPHIC DESIGN. Everything I do is driven by my dream of designing functional and beautiful spaces for a specific individual or a large group. I’m eager to design for all - the aging grandparent, dedicated athlete, excited newlyweds, or starving artist. I design with my clients in mind. I may be a historical chair enthusiast and have a constant hankering for cinnamon, but my true love for architecture and design overshadows them all. Thank you for reviewing my portfolio. Enjoy!

Description Creating commercial spaces becomes a difficult task due to the flexibility and multi-use. One must be always trying to create a sense of place for every user that enters.

MEDITERRANEAN MODERN INSPIRED BY THE ECLECTIC NATURE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN STYLE, COMBINED WITH MORE STRUCTURAL MODERN ELEMENTS, THIS LUXURY DAY SPA AND YOGA STUDIO IS SURE TO BRING CLARITY AND BALANCE TO ANY USER.
Tiums’ design builds off of the structure and history of mediterranean style. Mediterranean design encompasses more territory than you might think, drawing from countries in northern Africa, western Asia, and southern Europe. Although each locale has its own unique offerings, the region shares many design commonalities that are admired the world over. Whether it be an aquatic palette echoing the beaches of the Greek Islands or the use of radiant textiles from Morocco, Mediterranean style is warm, rooted in history, and unquestionably chic. Featured arches for doorways are throughout the space adding organic lines intro the architecture. White stucco walls, dome ceilings, and ancient sculptures are just the start. Rich, terracotta tiles in dusty orange tones are a mainstay of Mediterranean design. The clay-like material can be found on outdoor terraces, lining living room floors, kitchen backsplashes and fireplaces. Mediterranean architecture often echoes the rustic, sun-baked look of Tuscany. Hardly a room comes without exposed wood ceiling beams. Even sleek, contemporary spaces like the one above have worn stone floors and textured wall finishes with an ancient patina.
The furniture design in Tium is to be ornamental and styled. There are some basic aspects to the furniture but we strived to always place accents throughout that feature intricate and beautiful carvings. We placed some bolder and more neutral colors accompanying each other and even have some more plush fabrics and padding. This translates to some formal but still somewhat comfortable furniture. Furniture is generally very solid and long lasting as well, in materials like wood, wrought iron a whole lot more. THIS PROJECT WAS A GROUP EFFORT WITH THE TALENTED KATE RAWLINGS. HER CONTRIBUTION AND TALENTS WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN THE DESIGN AND CREATION OF TIUM. All of these elements together create an atmosphere of unity and tranquility. With the combining of different cultures and backgrounds harmoniously. All of these pieces together create an atmosphere of unity and tranquility. Building off the company’s logo of the ampersands relates to the design aesthetic; bringing together body and mind, whether within the visitor’s soul or the surroundings there in. Take a sneak peek into Tium to see a Mediterranean-inspired interior.

Tium Day Spa & Yoga
Tium Day Spa & Yoga
Located in the spa lounge, this quaint refreshment area serves as both a functional drink table and a beautiful example of what drove the design of Tium. The heavy Nior QS Graf Console Table invites a historical influence into the vignette. Above we have the abstract painting, “Ocean Motion by Thom Filicia, adding an elegant contrast. Pairing it all with an indoor olive which anciently represents peace and victory. This small corner of the space is the perfect example of this Mediterranean modern interior.
Near the entrance we wanted to create an architectural focal point. Designing a curved stairway brought a sense of mystery and elegance. Each stair is dressed with hand painted tiles from Tabarka Studio. This sweeping movement is meant to mimic the natural swaying of the wind, encouraging our clients to relax. Paired with the washed walnut sideboard and contrasting pottery this view becomes the perfect way we welcome our guests

Tium Day Spa & Yoga
Throughout Tium we have a variety of yoga experiences. We offer personal training, yoga certification, outdoor experiences and larger indoor classes. When designing this experience, we wanted to invite the outdoors in. To encourage that we placed Nana walls throughout the building. Below we are showing one of our largest indoor yoga studios that illustrates just how much the Nana wall encourages that design decision.
At Tium we encourage our visitors to listen to their body and what it needs. With that we created a space that could provide nutrients that we believe are essential to creating a space of healing. We even created fresh original products that encourage clients to live a rejuvenated lifestyle while still away from our day spa. With woven baskets, hand painted tiles & natural stone this juice bar is filled with organic textures and elements that flow with the rest of the interiors.

On the coastal edge of Nice, France the idea of high and low tide is almost non- existent. The narrow entrance of the Atlantic ocean to the Mediterranean causes calming waters and pebbled beaches. La Caullio spas tranquil design implements that calming peace, and natural beauty. La Caullio Medical Spa is a physiciandirected medical day spa, created by a dynamic multidisciplinary team of healthcare experts.

IT’S TYPICALLY THOUGHT THAT IF YOU WORK HARD, YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL, AND IF YOU’RE SUCCESSFUL, YOU’LL BE HAPPY. WE BELIEVE THAT IF YOU PUT HAPPINESS AT THE FRONT OF THE EQUATION, AND CREATE A CULTURE AND ENVIRONMENT THAT PEOPLE ENJOY, HARD WORK AND SUCCESS WILL NATURALLY FOLLOW. SAM MALOUF
The Malouf company is fuled by its culture. They draw energy from farmto-table lunches from an in-house chef. They recieve endorphins from playing basketball, cycling together or joining the Malouf softball team. And they gain humility and warm hearts from participating in community giving programs.

Product & Development
Within the breakout space Malouf desired a variety of seating for the employees. This area is a transition space between the in house lap pool and gym allowing this space to become transitional area that would encourage a lot of movement and interaction.
Building off the understanding that Malouf wanted a variety of seating the design opted for social padded booths. These conversation areas allow for more intimate conversations. With the acoustical dynamics in mind these areas are covering in an absorbent felt taking in excess noise making the booths more private.
Creating a space of family and unity Malouf desired a variety of items that would encourage playful employee interaction. To build off this credential we designed an area with multiple game options, surrounded by the focal point of table tennis. In addition, research also shows that table tennis increases concentration and alertness, stimulates brain function and develops tactical thinking skills.
If your company has an open office, it’s good to provide your employees with small rooms for taking private calls. These spaces prevent one person from dropping in on a meeting room that might be reserved for use by others.

HOR IZONTAL PERSPECT IVE Daltile Competition
This interior concept came from the idea that there is a perspective that comes when you are able to witness the vast views of nature. People vacation for a chance to escape from their day-to-day lives and refocus to what matters to them most. This biophilic design will envokes the similar emotional experience humans have in nature.

ZIONS BANK Exterior Elevation
Verbal description uses non visual language to convey the visual world. It can navigate a visitor through a museum, orient a listener to a work of art, or provide access to the visual aspects of a performance. This elevation was accomplished by figuring out the size of the brick and then counting them to determine the measurements of the building. This Zions Bank resides in Logan Utah in the historical district.

1898 / HENRY VAN DE VELDE
1902 / VICTOR HORTA
Henry Clemens Van de Velde (3 April 1863 – 25 October 1957) was a Belgian painter, architect and interior designer. Together with Victor Horta and Paul Hankar he could be considered as one of the main founders and representatives of Art Nouveau in Belgium. Van de Velde spent the most important part of his career in Germany and had a decisive influence on German architecture and design at the beginning of the 20th century.
Victor Pierre Horta (6 January 1861 – 8 September 1947) was a Belgian architect and designer. John Julius Norwich described him as “undoubtedly the key European Art Nouveau architect.” Horta is considered one of the most important names in Art Nouveau architecture. With the construction of his Hôtel Tassel in Brussels in 1892-3, he is sometimes credited as the first to introduce the style to architecture from the decorative arts.

1910 / JOSEF HOFFMANN
William Morris (24 March 1834 – 3 October 1896) was an English textile designer, poet, novelist, translator, and socialist activist. Associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement, he was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he played a significant role in propagating the early socialist movement in Britain.
Josef Hoffmann (15 December 1870 - 7 May 1956) was a German architect whose work was important in the early development of modern architecture in Europe. Hoffman studied under Otto Wagner in Vienna and in 1899 joined in the founding of the Vienna Sezession, which, although influenced by the Art Nouveau movement, was more modernist than Wagner’s approach. He participated in the establishment of the Vienna Workshop, a centre for arts and crafts, which he directed for some 30 years.
