The layering of general, task, and decorative lighting gives interest to the space. It also assists lighting in a space from becoming too harsh and overpowering.

The use of existing metal structures and large glass windows will provide an industrial look that is common in the Starkville area. Each of these windows offers a view of the surrounding campus. The exposed brick used throughout the space draws inspiration from the brick structures in the community and surrounding campus buildings. Each material plays a role in creating a space that is cohesive with the traditional design surrounding it.

When creating the space for the retail incubator, the designers wanted to show potential retailers that this was a space for them to make their own in order for them to succeed. The name, Exposure, comes from the idea that this is a place for retailers to receive the exposure that they desire. We also used this idea to translate how we treated the space aesthetically and spatially; exible pieces allow retailers to update their space as they wish. This building is a canvas that allows the retailer to shine through to get the Exposure they truly deserve.
